i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.

the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

many of the recent changes in the jehovah's witness organization are a clear sign of a cult that is struggling for survival.

the internet has change the scenario in a very dramatic way.

many of us who for years struggled alone with doubts and cognitive dissonance thinking that we were the only ones, that we, as individuals were the issue, now know that there is a large community of individuals who see the organization as what it is, a mind controlling cult that is not only false, but also dangerous.. the governing body clearly understands the consequences of this awakening.

Russel was easy going with the "brothers" then rutherford came in like hitler himself and reinvented the BOrg nringing in strict rigid procedures

the BOrg is being reinvented again more than ever since the banishing of the millennial dawn.

15 minutes, both parents counting family study time (buttressed by family worship night), 30 hour aux pioneering, all these tactics to keep less active ones from slipping way, the fresh mainstream feel of JW.org..... Once everyone is all nestled in, in will come the REAL reform

I HATE vets

took one of my cats to the vet two weeks ago, she gets dermatitis from flea bites and although she gats flea treatment every four weeks the skin problem flares up about every two years.

so i asked for her usual steroid tablets which clear it up in about a week but no this young vet about 25 thought she should have a steroid injection and an antibiotic.

didn't work and she's much worse.. went back today and another vet said can't give you the tablets because the injection is still in her system and lasts 6 weeks.

wallsofjericho, you must either have no experience with cats or be cold and heartless. My wife and I marvel every day at and get great joy from the many sweet, affectionate cats that live with us. I would hate to be like you.

I grew up with cats. I am tired of cleaning fur off all my clothes, emptying litter boxes, dealing with hacked up hair balls, smelly cat food, etc...

you would "hate" to be like me? like what? someone that doesn't like cats? you would hate to be like someone who doesn't like cats? what the hell is that supposed to mean? I don't much care for tofu, would you hate to be like someone that doesn't like tofu?

just to make sure of your hatred for me, in the country we have the privlige of dealing with all the unwanted cats of city folks who dump their cats off in the country. Then they get distemper and I have to shoot those cats and bury them. I've shot several. How do you like me now?

Another interesting thing is that the revised NWT no longer says "Nethinim". Each place where that term occurred in the old NWT, it's been replaced by "temple servant".

But I recall it implied that all the 144k could die off and the Org would be run by the "given ones" until the Big A. Did you get this too?

Tight Pants Tony Made The News

i didnt play with any other google words yet but comment is getting a lot of publicity!.

agreed, this is a JW board so yes the focus is on them. I accept that.

I also think that large mustaches with waxed, turned up twirly ends look silly. Does that mean that it should become law that no one is allowed to express themselves by having such a mustache?

agreed. However I don't think it would be a stretch to suggest that tight skirts on women is out of line for a "christian". Why would tight pants on men be any different?

I get that the GB stand on a platform of speaking for god, but to be honest, any christian SHOULD consider tight pants or "skinny" pants unchristian the same way they would find tight skirts

don't get me wrong, I find this kardashian look extremely sexy, but I don't hold the bible as my authority. I would think most "christians" should find this inappropriate.

I hate the tight pants look on men

its a rediculous look

I don't hate the people that wear them, I just hate the look. And if they are "emo" I dislike that look even more. so lame

do we live in a world where no one is allowed to express a negative opinion about something? I am sure there are other religions that express disdain for this look also, do we attack them also?

I once had a CO that had been an auto mechanic, he was a harsh german brother. He left the circuit work to care for aging parents. After they died he wanted back in but was rejected.

This long time CO was now looking for work as a mechanic again. Was it Satan that did this to him?

Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him to get in again. He responds that he has faith in god and god will give him a miracle. With the water at about chest high, another boat comes to rescue him, but he turns down the offer again cause "God will grant him a miracle."

With the water at chin high, a helicopter throws down a ladder and they tell him to get in, mumbling with the water in his mouth, he again turns down the request for help for the faith of God. He arrives at the gates of heaven with broken faith and says to Peter, I thought God would grand me a miracle and I have been let down." St. Peter chuckles and responds, "I don't know what you're complaining about, we sent you three boats and a helicopter."

In fact, I am pretty sure I heard a JW version of this once at a CA

you could argue that this is Jah's way of telling him he was too hasty in his decision and this will allow his wife to pioneer and him to get his finances in order so he can join her later.

The year 1992 saw still another refinement, one that is comparable to what happened after the Israelites and others returned from exile in Babylon. Back at that time, there were not a sufficient number of Levites to care for temple service. So non-Israelite Nethinim were given more to do in helping the Levites. Accordingly, to assist the faithful and discreet slave class in caring for its increasing earthly interests, in 1992 some of the “other sheep” received added service responsibilities. They were appointed as helpers to the Governing Body committees.—John 10:16.

Blondie pasted this in another thread recently. I always thought that after this 92 article actually went so far as to suggest that all the 144k could die beforeArmageddon and that there could be only "other sheep" remaining to run the organization.

I also beleive Barb Anderson had some comments about this article causing a shock wave at bethel with a few brothers getting their wrists slapped over it

It seemed to have just been shelved. Was this revived in 2006? Or was it just revisionism, ignoring the part about all the 144k dieing before the big A and just talking about the added responsibility?
