Nothing would surprise me anymore. They've certainly got a handle on how to control minds through the use of words and I'm sure they didn't think it up by themselves.
It'll be very interesting to see what happens over the next year or two.
this is a rumor i heard back in november, it comes to me third or fourth-hand.
feel free to poke holes.
i have many doubts about this myself.

Thanks for that exerpt Blondie. I remember when that came out and thought at the time how refreshing it was. I wasn't surprised when I learnt that Ray Franz wrote it. They kick out all the good guys!
DoC ... nice spoof.. He got you good and proper didn't he DD?
are there any type of threads that you especially enjoy?
.
are there any specific threads or posters that you look out for?.
I like most posts, there's such a variety. I think I especially like the posts from those that are still 'stuckin' as I feel a kind of kinship I guess. Being helped over what to say and what not to say, how and when to say it. How to fade successfully. How to wake up family and friends successfully. Also the 'leaks' of info. Those who are courageous enough to do it and pass it on. It helps me keep a step ahead and know what's coming up and what to expect!
yes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.
.
Won't believe it until I see the letter.

'Pastor' Russel died on halloween night on a train. As he he was dying, he asked to be wrapped in a Roman Toga.

@ 88JM... I'm not sure whether he does or not. I've seen elder letters in his hand at the meeting and seen him putting them in his bag, so maybe he does.

Pixel.. thanks! I love to see these letters. I know my elder hubby has these in his bag and I could read them anytime I felt like it but I hate to be a 'snoop' and would never invade someonelse's privacy. This way I know exactly what he's got in his bag without looking in it! :D
I can't see it's going to make a load of difference really. If the elders still make the recommendation to the CO, it just cuts out him having to send the recommendations to the branch and for them to get the 'rubber stamp'. It always seemed to be a nonsense sending it off to the branch and the GB just for them to say 'ok', when they don't even know the brothers concerned.

how can i cut down without going teetotal?
i love the taste of wine, i'm not fussed with other drinks but just need to rein in it a bit.. going wine-free tonight and tomorrow, as i'm out socially.. i also need to shift a few pounds.. thank you, everyone..
Same problem for me quelly. I've tried replacing it with cranberry juice or making some fruit smoothies and just allowing myself something alcoholic a couple of times a week. Sometimes I find myself slipping (like now LOL) but I give it another go. Slip back, try again... just keep trying!
so manipulaitve.

Got to the bit where he pulls out old Watchtowers to show they never called themselves a prophet. Shame he missed the Apr 1 1972 WT. about 'Identifying the Prophet'!
i was curious what might be some good things to say if i am questioned by the elduurs about my decline in fs.
anything too honest may get me a jc (although that would be for the best in the end..) the co visit is this week so they may be getting more agressive than usual.
I only do an hour a month, just so I don't get put on the 'inactive' list. Apparently there's a big push (from the GB) to chase up inactive ones. (This I heard from my elder hubby's own lips after a meeting with the CO. I know as an elder's wife I am going to be in the sights of the CO which is making me nervous.
I've thought about this question a lot and have thought all I need to say if asked why I'm doing so little is just, 'I have my reasons but would like to keep it to myself, if you don't mind'. I think the trick is to be firm and assertive without being rude. It works well in theory... I have yet to put it into practice!
