Also, on the movie--it seems he was about 25 at the end and the other ballet dancers were much smaller and younger and in awe of him. He was also the major star of the ballet too, huh?
I think I may have to purchase the movie to watch it from time to time when my spirits need lifting. What an enriching movie.

Isn't it something when folks leave the WTBS, the WT always says it's because they're wanting to be wicked, or they tired of waiting for the paradise, or they were serving god with a date in mind. But never do they say that honest, thinking people do not agree with them anymore. No, then it's an even worse appellation: APOSTATE. What a bunch of manure.
It's like they brand evolutionary scientists as 'wanting to have their sexual freedom,' instead of being intellectuals who are presenting what they have learned to the public.

I'm responding to your original post as to where is God when these things happen.
Others feel free to offer their religious views, so I'm offering my nascent views: there is no supernatural being in charge of everything.
It is up to humans to administer justice. And, just as in nature, there are predators, so too in humans there are predatory people to be dealt with to limit their power and destructive ways.
So, it is pointless to lament the lack of action of a mythical being. Plus, it drains us of energy that is needed to help solve the problems.
The WTBS is the worst just sitting on the sidelines criticizing every blamed thing that EVERYONE does. What good has the WTBS EVER accomplished for anyone but their own sales force? Preach the good news? Oh yeah, that helps!
Once humans accept there is no magical being to solve the problems, they can be liberated from an anachronistic belief and get to work!

I think the article was polemic. It presented only two sides, either forgiveness or nursing a grudge and reliving the hurt. There are many other options as Tina and JanH have eloquently stated. The article was in the class of "have you stopped beating your wife?"

will time spent as a jehovahs witness always have a disabling effect on a persons life, does the very existence of the wtbts cause us to feel wounded?.
is it a good idea to blame the wtbts for the negative impact that it has had on our lives, or will their come a point when the experience ultimately proves to be character-building?.

Good thoughts to consider. Do we want to give any more time to WTS by becoming unduly occupied with them?
However, is it necessary to forgive someone in order to get on with our life? No, I don't think so. Forget yes, forgive no.
One can recognize the injustice and overcome the damage without giving undeserved forgiveness. Isn't that just a misconstrued concept by the churches?
Would it be necessary for Hitler to be forgiven in order to overcome the hurt? I don't think so.
There are plenty of constructive ways to move on in one's life but unwarranted forgiveness is not one of them. Shouldn't there be a sincere "I'm sorry" at least? At most, there should be a rectifying and damages paid, just as the courts realize.
Any strength we may have gained from the whole experience is due to ourselves looking at the positive, not from being duped. It still doesn't warrant extending peaceful relations to people who hate what you are. They haven't changed hating us.
This site is a great catharsis for damage control.
