The Watchtower and the Masons
by ozziepost inthe latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.
* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.
* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

its quite popular amongst jw elders in australia as a teaching aid.. the story goes something like this: a frog is placed in a container of water.

Do you choose DA or DF?
by ozziepost insome of us were discussing the other day the 'advantages' and 'disadvantages' of disassociating from the witnesses as against being disfellowshipped (for apostasy).. it seems from reading various experiences that most departing borgites choose to send in a letter of disassociation.
for them it saves the 'hassle' of being harrassed by the modern-day philistines, the elder class.
it also saves, to some extent, the reputation of the exdub.

"it takes faith to recognize that jehovah is the one teaching us through his earthly organisation".

"Thank JWs for Religious Freedom"
by ozziepost inthe subject title is found in bold type on the back page of the may 15 watchtower.. page 32 is usually directed to the public.
so, in this issue, the public are being informed that freedom of expression in the united states owes much to the early jehovah's witnesses who were not afraid to stand up for freedom, and were persecuted as a result.. interested persons should be aware that the organisation of jws has championed freedom for itself as a corporate body.
this is quite different to the position of the individual within the jws organisation.. it seems the watchtower is claiming some sort of imprimatur or approval from the u.s. supreme court, since alongside the invitation; "would you welcome a visit?

The Watchtower Apologists rule!
by ozziepost inbeen away from the board for a bit, and was shocked to see that two familiar members of our 'family' have made the most number of posts in the past 7 days.. we all realise that you know and fred hall are particularly disposed to defending the borg 'at all costs', in all weathers, and resort, at times, to derogatory remarks, and even worse, when they have no reasonable argument with which to defend the watchtower.. but what does it mean when these two radical members of this happy place are having the most to 'say'?.
are they getting desparate?.
btw you know and fredhall, we pretty much know what your response would be!

When it rains...
by ozziepost inhere in the eastern seaboard of oz it's raining today.
have you ever considered that these rainy days are days of special activity to the witnesses?.
in an endeavor to give at least one complete witness to all the inhabitants of this town, the brothers decided to preach there only on very rainy days, in the hope that they would not be bothered by the young folk.
