The ark's door is already shut.
LOL @ min ! Good one.
after coming here almost every day for years, it will be bewildering to have no jwd.
and the truth is, there are other places that will pop up in the years to come but i doubt very much anything will be of this magnitude in regard to assisting others out of the organization.. i think if any are so inclined, they should make their emails available so as to make further contact with our cyber friends.. well now, i'm sure a lot of lurkers are kicking themselves for not joining here.
too late!
The ark's door is already shut.

wow, today has been killer.
this morning started with a bit of drama...but by the middle of the day, i was in shock, in a great way.. yesterday i got a call to fix the paint on an rv, so i dropped everything and went there...frankly because my kids are here and i need the money to have food...yea...that tight.
those jobs usually pay cash.. i did the job, and got offered another one...working for the guy's company which he owns outright.. it's a movie production company and i'm working on-set for a stupid amount of money i still can't believe until i get the first check.
we have known behind the scenes for a time that this was being considered, obviously.
i just want to express my personal appreciation for what simon and angharad have done here on jwd.
i found jwd just a few months after leaving the organization, and kind of believing that i was pretty alone in the world at the time.
Well, Jeff, your thread didn't stay on-topic for long, eh?
so many christians highlight love and mercy as the main point of their religion.. that's undeniably appealing.. but is it true to christianity?.
in the end, isn't the belief all about escaping god's violent wrath?
aren't those that are unable to accept the system's contradictions and absurdities promised suffering and eventual destruction as punishment for their disbelief?.
I'm so nauseated by the fearmongering Christianity that I experienced first-hand as a JW and that I've seen in other churches that are prominent where I live that even if I could find something appealing in Christianity, I could never ever call myself a Christian.
Fair enough, but are you sure you experienced Christianity as a JW?

G'day possible-san:
This thought is not new. It's known as psychosomatic healing i.e. mind over matter. In the 'old' "Life everlasting" book, it discusses this in the first or second chapter. It goes this way: after armageddon, as the survivoirs become more obedient, they will also become more perfect, seeing their bodies restored, etc. In other words, as they become more perfectly obedient, they'll see their bodies become also more perfect. so some would attain perfection before others.
To my knowledge, this idea wasn't repeated in the publications, but it's interesting that Sydlik should be discussing it in a talk.
Chweers, Ozzie

i samuel 17:54 - "and david took the head of the philistine and brought it to jerusalem".
why did david do this, especially when the city of jerusalem was over 20 miles away and also under jebusite control at the time?.

i have decided to go back to basics and just read the bible alone, trying to eliminate wt influence from my mind as i read.
it's amazing what you see in the scriptures when you just look at the scriptures.. can anyone shed some light on the following - in particular verse 13:.
G'day S-8,
Just popping in to your thread to offer a very belated welcome aboard.
Love your name! Ahhh, those S 8's!! I remember them well.
Cheers from downunder,
Ozzie
if you make friends here, keep posting here and keep following the forum for a while, you might reach 10,000 posts.
i've found this place a really good outlet and place to learn and share for quite a while.
the number of posts doesn't really matter... but the freedom to speak one's mind and to perhaps share ideas that might help others get past the jw experience .. that does matter!.
So what kept you?
Glad you decided to go-pher it and stick around.
keep on posting, mate!
Cheers, ozzie
