Painfully Long Prayers on the last day of the 3-day Conventions.
by blkblk13 inanyone else hate this practice?
uve been sitting all day 4 three days @ this place and u just wanna hurry up and finish ur cleaning assignment so u can go out to eat w/ ur friends, but bro.
special speaker from bethel/or do has to give a one man symposium during his prayer recapping every single moment of the past 3 days.. its like they have this formula that they use to determine how long a prayer should be.

The all time worst District Convention concluding prayer of all time that I had the misfortune of enduring through, was the year I was dunked, Fred Franz was in town vactioning and just dropped by to give the concluding
prayerlecture. He droned on and on for over 10 minutesFrom what I remember, he made a habit of it!

Reason is- giving the concluding prayer at a DC is evidence that you are damn spiritual.
Seems like it, doesn't it? The length of the prayer increases in direct relation to the depth of spirituality, eh?

Cruise Ship Disaster
by Rapunzel inapparently, a cruise ship got caught in a typhoon that hit the r.o.p.
[republic of the philippines].the estimated death toll is approximately 700, or about half the number who perished on the titanic.
i fear that the death toll in the latest cruise-ship disaster could actually be higher than 700. my fear comes from the fact that 700 were officially registered as being on board.

A correction is needed.
Unfortunately, there exists the common practice of cramming many more people on board, people who are not recorded in the official registry or log.
I wasn't aware that cruise ships overloaded their capacity, so I checked for the report and sure enough, it was a ferry!!
RESCUERS are searching seas near a capsized ferry in the Philippines as fears grow for more than 800 people missing after it sank in a typhoon.
Coast guard boats searched the area around the 23,824-tonne ferry and divers were expected to drill into the side of the vessel where they hope survivors might be alive in air pockets.
Twenty-eight passengers and crew were the most recently found survivors of the ferry disaster, having landed at a small coastal village after drifting for more than 24 hours in a rubber boat, radio dzBB reported. -

WT related pdf Adelaide JWs V Government
by jaydee inthis is for the really die hard researcher .
reference is made of this case in penton's book... ''jehovah's witnesses in canada: ''.
champions of freedom of speech and worship .

Interesting that the case is actually "Adelaide Company of Jehovah's Witnesses".
The use of the word "congregation" as in JWs is only of more recent origin - they used to be known as "companies'.

YOU WANNA SEE SOMETHING FUNNY???
by Mary inok, i was working on my project about "new light" and i came across a very interesting statement that was made 24 years ago via the wt:.
december 1, 1984 watchtower:.
"....have apostates who claim that "the last days" began at pentecost and cover the entire christian era promoted christian alertness?

"....Have apostates who claim that "the last days" began at Pentecost and cover the entire Christian Era promoted Christian alertness? Have they not, rather, induced spiritual sleepiness?...."
Yep, it's true, they have become sleepy! -

I was back at the hospital this morning to have my blood taken again and won't know the results for a day or so. A different drug was used to fight the CMV and it seems to have worked as the viral numbers went down, I was allowed home and I feel much better.
I can't make any plans due to the risk of the virus returning so it's a case of if the weather is fine getting away for a few days.
Thanks to EVERYONE who is participating in tonight's vigil.
How's Alleymom? Not heard from her in a while.
Love,
Ian
Anyone in contact with Ian? How is he? I miss him.
If you read this, dear friend, a big "G'day!" to ya from downunder.
