the reason given for combining the bookstudy with the tms and service meeting was rising gas prices.
whether that was society's true reason for the change or not, that was what the publishers were told.. if i were a publisher contemplating this coming weekend's field service activity and a near-empty gas tank, i simply would not go out.. do you think there will be a corresponding reduction in the number of field service hours as gas prices increase?.
has anyone noticed a trend in the monthly reports published in the km?.
If the change to no Tuesday night book study was to help with the high cost of gas, the Society would implement it immediately, not at the biginning of next year.
Maybe they realize that most of the field service being reported is riding around in cars, and hopes the cars get parked and more people start walking around the block.
Who knows? Have to wait and see what happens.

during my 13 year stint as a witness,.
i noticed, that not one time, that i can remember were any of "our" brother's used to give talks at the dc.
they were used at the circuit assemblies tho.. i also never personally knew anyone in the dramas.... is it normal for some congregations to be left out of such things, while others seem to be used over and over again ??.
A lot of CO's used to kiss Harley Miller's butt to get assigned to the more generous congregations where the more affluent Brothers lived, and if you got on the wrong side of him for some reason, you were shipped to Siberia, so-to-speak, where life was tough.
Some congregations like the Dunwoody GA one, had many influential brothers with lots of money who could entertain on a minutes notice. These seemed to do well. At least that is the way it was years ago. Now? I don't know, as it has been many years since I was involved with any congregations.

i just caught the conclusion of an npr news brief regarding zimbabwe (i believe the country is zimbabwe); the government is using food as a weapon, i.e., 'you support our regime and we'll feed you.'.
the journalist ended her report saying that it is 'a desperate regime that will do anything to stay in power.'.
my first thought was of the governing body.. call me crazy .... coco.
Personally, I never worried much about the 'birds plucking my eyes out' if I was already dead. Would that hurt?
Sometimes, I felt death to be better than the JW lifestyle, but thankfully 'freedom in Christ' appears to be best!

the latest co around here if you have them for a meal you get a list what they will not eat.
I think a lot of the Circuit Overseer's and their wives had stomach problems because of their jobs. So, give them a break, it's hard when you have ulcers!
One Circuit Overseer, some of you older ones might recognize, was Brother Norman McKinney. He related a story one time about eating at this couple's house one evening and the dog kept nudging his leg at the table. Finally one of the boys said to him, "Brother McKinney, do you know why our dog likes you so much?" It's because you're eating off his plate!"

compassion and forgiveness are important qualities for all of us - but that said, this is not the time to 'let up' or start showing mercy to .
let's consider three ways in which they hurt people:.
first, they injure or wreck families.
There are good JW's and bad JW's. Unfortunately the 'bad' ones are running the show. And I'm sure they know of their own manipulations and fleecing of the flock.
Deserve no mercy in my opinion.
