This guy put into plain english what I was trying to tell my wife when this whole story came and when she came home babbling about yet another letter being read at the KH so-called "clarifying this issue".

You're right in one sense of that last statement, I do not know you. But those words speak more about not only what I, but what most every person on this board have been exposed to when dealing with JW's. Say anything that doesn't "tickle their ears" about the society and watch the character assination begin. It's almost automatic.

The problem is with the states that do not require that the abuser should be turned in. But that’s the states’ problem, not the Witnessses.

Typical JW apologists crap. Instead of taking responsibility for an obvious flop spread as much blame as you can around then engage in character assination. I've seen it time and time again in every JW I've ever came in contact with.

It's interesting that JW are always presenting themselves as holding to a higher standard but when pressed to do so, they hide behind the us vs. them mentality. Whatever happened to upholding bible principles? Child molestation is AGAINST THE LAW in all 50 states. Whatever happened to obeying the laws of the land and ensuring that justice is afforded to victims? Their so-called bible-trained conscious should've moved those elders to report the accusation to the authorities regardless to what state they live in based upon applying bible principles and not by hiding behind legalese bull provided by those henchmen in the society's law branch..

If you're gonna hold yourselves to a higher standard you'd better be ready to live by it. Either shit or get off the pot !!!!

I haven't seen the program yet and there may be some potential for lies in the story, but does not the Society lie also in their publications when it's too their advantage. You make fun of Bowen's "in his heart" statement but the society does the same thing claiming to be the mouthpiece for god on earth with no concrete evidence whatsoever. There you have it. The absurdity of them speaking it so it must be true.

What a sick twist those who believe as you do are.....

Dateline and My Mother-Part 2

i watched dateline and within minutes of the jw section being completed, i called my mother.

i could tell she had been crying.

I taped the show but i haven't had time to watch it yet. Those are some great admissions from what you describe as your moms typical hardcore JW mindset.

My wife haven't watched the show either. In fact, I don't believe she knows the segment exists, but she came home after her indoctrinating session detailing to me a letter that had been read to the congregation detailing past articles that were written by the WT as it pertains to the treatment of accused pedoophiles in the congregation to which I replied that there is a wide disparagy between what is written and said and what is actually done. Through a very heated conversation I got her to admit that the WT is not the perfect organization it imagines itself to be though I couldn't get specifics out of her as you've done with your mother.

I only hope that one day the WT association with the UN would hit the national spotlight. Maybe they can quietly tiptoe away from these other issues but I think with they way they have villified the UN, they would be hard pressed to explain that away.
