Institutional Loyalty
by Londo111 inhttp://articles.philly.com/2012-06-22/news/32353083_1_past-allegations-abuse-penn-state-higher-ups.
the catholic church, penn state, and of course, the watchtower have lied, covered up, and tried to spin their way out of bad pr.
in each case, the problem was institutional loyalty.

The FIRST Memorial Ive missed in 41 years
by Londo111 inlast year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.
the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.
afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.

The Hair-trigger Aposta-sense
by Londo111 inwhen you are in, i mean mentally in, did you ever unintentionally set of someones aposta-sense?
i was among close friends (so i thought) and i let my hair down for a bit and questioned whether the flood really covered every inch of the earth.
i asked, if this is supposed to be noahs eyewitness account, wouldnt the flood just cover the whole land as far as the eye could see?

The Apostate Boogeyman--a figment of JW imagination
by Londo111 inapostates are a figment of the jw imagination.
not necessarily the dictionary definition of the word apostate, which simply means a person who leaves their religion, for by that definition everyone who leaves a religion to become a jw is an apostate--but the jw conception of the apostate, both as an individual and as a 'group' is imaginary.. .
for starters, the watchtower goes beyond the definition of merely leaving the religion, if a person disagrees with a doctrine or practice of the organization, even if they dont voice it, that is a thoughtcrime called apostasy.

Service as a way of relieving our pain
by Londo111 inservice as a way of relieving our pain.... .
no, not field service.
i cant believe all the empty hours i spent knocking on doors, going where i was not welcome, not wanting to be there either, foisting magazines on people, occasionally studying with people in an effort to indoctrinate them.
