Lady drives car into Kingdom Hall
by Sugar Shane inright smack into (what looks like) the front entry!.
http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-13/78yo-female-driver-crash-jehovahs-witnesses-church/7243268.
this was in australia, but the khs i've seen (in the us) are designed so that you'd have to almost intentionally want to ram a building to cause this kind of damage.

Chitty
by StopTheTears ini've learned that many years ago, there was a man named brother chitty of some prominence in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
it fact, chitty was a member of the governing body.
chitty was asked to resign his position after serving for many years and nothing much was ever said about it to jehovahs witnesses.

I'm curious as to what good either Chitty or Greenless has ever accomplished?
Watchtower has covered up the actions of both (as it has with Rutherford having a mistress).
I believe there is enough credible smoke for Chitty and Greenless, but the actions of both should not be conflated. Chitty's actions made him a hypocrite, but the actions of Greenless were criminal.
Shuffling off Greenless to another location is akin to the Catholic church shuffling around its priests.

Almost three months since Crisis of Conscience Cease and Desist
by ILoveTTATT2 ini am very interested in getting crisis of conscience being fully available as soon as possible.
march 12th will mark exactly three months since the cease-and-desist letter was written.. i understand that things are slow and that deborah may be sick, but i was just wondering if anyone knew the status.
i have been asked twice already where the book can be obtained in spanish and i have told people that the book is not available.. there are ways to make ebooks extremely hard to share.

our secret dating got caught...
by trueloveneverfails94 inwe both are 21 years old.
we both are 21 years old.
i am almost done with my study and working on to become one of an unbaptized publisher.

Read everyone’s comments here and think about it. You are seeing a huge red flag about this organization. Heed it!
A baptized JW isn’t supposed to date (contemplate marriage) with someone unbaptized. It’s heavily discouraged in the JW culture to date someone newly baptized…”fresh out the water”. Not too long ago, Governing Body member Anthony Morris remarked that a man who is in their 20’s and not yet a ministerial servant is not marriage material. Therefore, you can imagine how this organization would view an unbaptized male dating one of theirs.

Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

I would say the vast majority of JWs do not enjoy the meetings. I doubt even the Governing Body likes them. Whenever there is an event that cancels a meeting, a JW will find relief and joy in being able to spend that time how they wish.
When I was a JW, even though meetings were dull, I felt a measure of relief afterwards because I thought I'd fulfilled my obligation and pleased God by doing so. It was my understanding that not being regular at meetings, or field service would lead to eternal destruction at the Big A.
Addendum: The social aspect after the meetings and assemblies was the only enjoyable part. It gave an illusion of friendship and brotherhood and love. This illusion was stronger in the 80's, but by the 00's I noticed the social aspect had cooled.

As the ship slowly sinks, the grip tightens and "loyalty" will be the focus. No matter how crazy things seem, no matter how much it doesn't make sense, no matter the scandal and exposure and news reports: stay loyal to the org. Loyalty used in this way can be a thought stopping word.
They've changed Micah 6:8 in the NNWT and I would bet they will probably be beating this drum: "He has told you, O man, what is good. And what is Jehovah requiring of you? Only to exercise justice to cherish loyalty, And to walk in modesty with your God!"
Other translations render this "love mercy" or "love kindness"...even the old NWT was a similar thought. Rather than love, mercy, or kindness being the emphasis, they've made loyalty the important thing. Be loyal to Watchtower right or wrong (well never wrong: waiting for adjustment, clarification, new light, ect…)

The word “BROAD” and the Australian Royal Commission
by Londo111 inperhaps i am making too much of this, but was anyone else struck with the number of times the word ‘broad’ and ‘broadly’ were used?
sometimes i wondered if it was due to coaching, in particular when the questioning put a person in a tight spot.
for instance, from the testimony of bowditch:.

Sometimes I wondered if it was due to coaching, in particular when the questioning put a person in a tight spot.
For instance, from the testimony of Bowditch:
Q. And as an organization, in your experience, you don't seek to protect or take care of children who are outside of the congregation?
A. That's a broad statement.
From the testimony of Spinks:
A. It's such a broad, sweeping, ill-informed comment.
And finally from the testimony of Jackson himself:
Q. Would you disagree, then, with anyone who said that the efforts to highlight and deal with child sexual abuse in the Jehovah's Witness church are engaging in apostate lies?
A. I guess that's a broad question, because sometimes those who make these accusations make many other accusations as well.
Of course, the Watchtower is the master of "broad statements" all the time, in particular when they call this matter "apostate-driven lies".

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.”—Matthew 6:1-2
Of course, this passage doesn't apply to the Watchtower because they don't give to the poor. When they blow their trumpet, it's about something inconsequential.
