Jehovah's Witness Mentos Commercial Parody
by WatchtowerReviewz ini made this quick little parody to showcase how simple and ridiculous the jw "cure all" solution is to all of life's problems.
.
pray, read watchtower, and recruit more members = solution.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l4ig_zu4fi&feature=youtu.be.

"Shunning" - now a Watchtower word?
by slimboyfat ini know jws have long used the word "shun" in a general sense, as in "shun what is bad".
but i think they have long avoided using the word in relation to disfellowshipping.
in external media or literature wherever the word "shunning" was used in a piece about jws it was usually a good indication it was critical of watchtower and not a neutral or supportive commentary.

I believe Watchtower PR people would say, "shunning is a myth". And that was echoed by an elder in court.

Can a Person Resign From Being One of Jehovah’s Witnesses? (JW.org FAQ)
by Da.Furious infound this in my rss feed of, as new faq on jw.org:.
the answer was .
a person can resign from our organization in two ways:.

An outsider would quickly miss the fact that while it says the inactive are not shunned, it doesn't state the consequences of of the "choice" to disassociate.
Nor does it jive with what is being taught at the convention to shun inactive ones who violate Watchtower rules who the elders haven't gotten around to yet.

Are the witnesses really False prophets?
by MrTheocratic inwhen you read the following statements from the wt.
organization... do they satisfy you?
or better stated...... should you be satisfied by there answers?.

This is pure spin.
Harold Camping was called a false prophet for his failed predictions...why can't Watchtower be held to the same standards they hold other religions?
“RELIGIOUS LEADERS sometimes predict tragic worldwide events to warn mankind and gather followers. Doomsday prophet Harold Camping and his disciples widely advertised that the earth would be destroyed in 2011. Needless to say, the world is still here . . . Human predictions are often based on such factors as scientific research, analysis of available facts and trends, or even bogus spiritual insight.”--Watchtower, May 1, 2014.

Fred Franz as Ghostwriter for Rutherford
by slimboyfat init has been claimed that franz was a ghostwriter for rutherford in formulating many on the more obscure allegorical interpretations, and "classes" doctrines of the 1930s and 1940s.
i wonder just how much evidence there is for this.
if there any contemporary testimony that franz did a lot of the writing for rutherford?

I wonder if anyone has tried textual analysis to test this hypothesis. There are several online tools for this. One could compare a work that it is known Franz wrote. Then compared it to something he may have ghostwritten for Rutherford. -

New commentary on revelation coming up?
by EdenOne ini heard through the grapevine about a forthcoming book:.
together through the great tribulation - come to jehovah's mountain.
still awaiting solid confirmation though.

Recently, they've updated the "two witnesses" of Revelation 11 to the Governing Body of 1918/1919. I'm assuming the "John Class" will become the Governing Body as well.

If true, I look forward to debunking it.

Former Jehovah's Witness admits: We targeted grief-stricken as 'ripe fruit'
by Londo111 inhttp://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/80708572/former-jehovahs-witness-admits-we-targeted-grief-stricken-as-ripe-fruit.
jehovah's witnesses target grief and see the recently bereaved as "ripe fruit" for conversion, a former elder of the faith says.. vince and michele tylor spoke out after reading the story of wellington woman jean sergent-shadbolt, who received a handwritten letter from a jehovah's witness three months to the day after her step-cousin, friend and flatmate died.. a current senior elder of the faith says it has no policy to target grieving, and those who do so are acting on their own initiative.
however, he concedes such people may feel guided by jehovah's witness literature.. but vince tylor said he knew of members who would trawl though obituaries to find grieving people, or visit cemeteries.. "not only do we see watchtower printed material suggesting and supporting writing letters from obituaries such as what jean received, but we even have reports and articles of encouragement for jws to go to cemeteries to look for people as well.".

Rank and file JWs are not to blame for the practice...they are doing what they are taught in an effort to "get their time in" and avoid "bloodguilt". Watchtower might step back with a wink and disavow it, but the rank and file only do what they are taught.

Also this: "the faith did not dictate to its members how they spread the word."
What on earth?
