Embarrassing JW Parents-How 'bout U?

I always enjoyed sitting in the library alone while the ENTIRE school was in the gym for the Christmas presentation(even the librarian was in the gym).
As kids would file past the library door, I could see them looking at me with their "what the hell are you doing" face. It felt good to stand up for Jehovah.
Or getting invited to school dances by girls and always making up lame excuses like, "uh, well, I, uh, can't, you see my uh, grandparents are uh, coming up from out-a-state, and uh, my parents really want me around for this thing , so uh, maybe next time"
My entire childhood was this way. I cant even stand my parents now. They make me sick.

What about the money
by miner ini read not long ago that the wts rakes in some big bucks every year from sales of printed materials.
can someone please help me understand who pays for their materials.
in the country where i live, it seems they distribute their literature free of charge.

If the "contributions" dont match the value of the material listed on the shipping invoice, the congregation secratary "contributes" the difference out of the congregations local donation arrangement for that month.
Headquarters ALWAYS get their cash for whatever is sent out to the congregations ALWAYS.

by closer2fine insince there isn't an "other" forum.. my hubby is a die-hard regular razor kinda guy.
i want to buy him a nice electric (or cordless) shaver for christmas (help cut his shave time in half).
i went to consumer reports to see what they said - and they haven't reviewed it.. does anyone have any recommendations?.

when i started reading the parents were religious and then saw home-schooling, i had a gut feeling they were jw's.

This sounds eerily familiar to my homelife as a JW. My parents love was the motivation behind many a beating. How grateful I am that they did not spare the rod. I really had it coming. My room was often a mess and Oh how disrespectful I was.
Now that I am grown, I show my appreciation for my strict JW upbringing by not talking to my parents. Its a really nice relationship. As I put myself through college and raise a family of my own, it only seems appropriate that I pay them back for all the "help" they gave me. It just seems appropriate that they havnt been in my new home. I think the prevelence of peace and happiness I enjoy at my home would make them feel uncomfortable anyway.

What do you mean boring? At my old hall we threw out the Theo-Ministry school and had Karokee Thursdays. Sat morns we would break into foursoms and have a weekly golf invitational(for Jehovah) instead of service. In the mid-ninetees the sound dept got a turn-table and used to mix their own kingdom-melodies. I used to mope around the house when it wasnt a "meeting night". The Org has so much to offer kids. Why they leave is beyond me. What I really miss are the WT sponsered canoe trips for ALL the kids at the hall if a kid was too poor it didnt matter cause the WT paid for them to have a good time. What memories!

Didn't the Nazis persecute homosexuals as well? What does that prove? The Witnesses should be thanking guys like my grandpa who fought(and risked his own life) and helped defeat Hitler.
