I saw the original in the theater when it came out. Then I read the book. Do read the book!
I would steer clear of the sequel movie.
so, i saw t2 trainspotting (2017), the sequel to the 1996 original.. i love the original, so this film was a bit of a letdown.. first it had way too much nostalgia.
one particular scene, the one where spud, renton and sick boy return to the countryside to lay flowers in memory of tommy, is really touching.
but there are so many more nods back to the original film that it started to piss me off.. another thing: this is supposed to be twenty years later.

catholic church killed off alot of christian books from the "offical" bible collection.
so why let thru the weird book of revelation?
have you read the watchtowers explanation it's a joke rutherford's conventions play a huge part..
The Apostle John, like Paul, was a zealot who believed the end would come in his lifetime. Revelations is a book using metaphor to describe the Roman Empire and how treated the nations it conquered.

my escape from jehovah's witnesses to seek a life as an artist .... (1974 - i pulled up stakes in fort worth, texas, packed my wife and 3 small kids into a ford maverick, and headed to california seeking a job of some kind where i could earn a living --not as a janitor, window washer, or minimum wage slave - but as some kind of artist.

What a wonderful story, Terry! I can relate.
“For Buddhists, Divinity is not a person on a cloud with tablets of rules.
Divine means the eternal flowing motion of music and art to refine the ear and eye,
the flavor of food in elegant presentations, treasures of the mind.”
A deep bow to you and your master. Gassho!

13. how did prayer help one family who were unjustly treated?.
13 consider the experience of a sister named vero, who lives in the democratic republic of the congo.
Paragraph 13 is found on :
STUDY ARTICLE 47
How Strong Will Your Faith Be?
I think it is better is more accurate for the Watchtower to use the word "belief" instead of "faith". Faith is the letting go of preconceptions and accepting facts as you experience them. Belief is an idea you cling to, protect from facts, refuse to listen to anything that might prove the idea false.
"How Strong Will Your Belief Be?" seems to make more sense and is intellectually honest.
"the campaign will feature the distribution of a special edition of the watchtower magazine containing the cover series “a better world is near.”".
"more than 36 million printed copies of the magazine will be distributed in some 230 languages to communities in 240 lands around the globe.
in addition, the digital publication is available on various platforms in nearly 400 languages.".
I think Jehovah's Witnesses should try the New World/Paradise Simulator to get a taste of life in their "Better World". I would recommend at least living six months in this simulator. Then, imagine living that way FOREVER...

Prayer asking for an outcome is pointless.

One pair of helping hands is worth more than millions of hands clasped in prayer.
i was listening to the co talk to my wife’s congregation on sunday and pretty much the complete talk was justifying doctrinal and organizational changes and pretty much preparing the ‘rank and file’ for upcoming changes.
anyone on hear have any insight of what ‘new light’ is coming in the future?.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls become Watchtower movie theaters. With the decline of "brothers qualifying" to be Elders and Ministerial Servants, it would be simpler to stream all meetings parts. Just click on the donate button.
deut 14:21 you shall not eat anything that has died a natural death; give it to the stranger in your community to eat, or you may sell it to a foreigner.
for you are a people consecrated to yhwh.... it seems quite self evident the ritual of blood letting prior to eating meat was understood by the deuteronomist as binding only on jews..
This is clearly the Watchtower being a solution looking for a problem. It is the trademark of the Watchtower.

great story..
"there's still a part of me that simply just longs to hear my parents say, oh my goodness, I'm so proud of you."
This is the part that tugs at the heartstrings the most. I am glad this brave person got on with her life. Her accomplishment should be applauded. Unfortunately all she wants is for her parents to acknowledge her achievement. It is highly unlikely to happen.

Paul's words in Acts about "Keep abstaining from blood" is a reference to bloodshed, murder, and not eating blood.
