Also, here is the African cover of this issue of the Watchtower...
as many know, african languages have for decades been given their own alternate cover with black people.
their cover for the 2020 wt#3 also includes a bearded man.
this can not be a coincidence.

When you see signs and chants of "Defund the Police" at these protests the media will try to tell you "what they actually mean." Instead, go directly to the source:
MPD150 is an organization whose mission statement is to abolish all law enforcement from the City of Minneapolis. MPD150's core belief is that law enforcement's role in American society is to protect the rich and white from the poor and ethnic minorities. MPD150 states that all crime is a result of poverty and a lack of social services. MPD150 wants to replace policing with 100% social services.
In the MPD150 FAQ section a question is presented "What happens if someone commits an armed robbery?" MPD150 answers first by stating that if everyone has a job no one will commit crime. Then they concede and say, "Well, sure. I guess someone could still hold up the US Bank in downtown Minneapolis. So I guess why could have a couple of public servants trained to handle those situations."
This isn't a joke. They are real as a heart attack.

After doing some additional thinking and reading of other's views on this topic I have started seeing things this way -
Those who are at the forefront of demanding police reform will never be satisfied. If tomorrow all police agencies in the U.S. implement the changes and policies being demanded it won't be enough. It will only be enough when there is no law enforcement.
The Utopian dream of a nation in which no criminal dies as a result of laws being enforced will also come in my Utopian dream where suspected criminals -
With freedom comes responsibility. The U.S. is a free nation. The citizens of a free nation police themselves. The U.S. is a constitutional republic and follows the rule of law. Laws are only pretty words written on paper if they are not enforced.
Citizens in a free nation do not have a right to say, "I will not be arrested for my allegations of criminal activity. I will not stand trial by a jury of my peers. I will not accept their judgment or any punishment. I will not be held accountable for my actions. Keep your due process."
I hope and pray the City Council of Minneapolis does abolish its police department. I have already come up with a title for a movie based on what will transpire. I call it "Black Hawk Down 2 - Minneapolis-Mogadishu".
here are some questions to ask visiting jws to help them realize their faith is not in the bible, but in men.. questions about how you view the bible.. 1. do you view the bible as the inspired word of god?
(ii tim.3:16).
2. do you believe the bible is written for everyone?
TTWSYF -
Your are absolutely correct! Jesus words that are allegedly written down in the gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, and Luke have him stating just the opposite. Christianity is a man-made religion. Ultimately Christianity is a Roman construct. Jesus preached to Jews in Israel. The Vatican is in what was once Rome.
what things, modest and attainable, will be on your bucket list to do after covid ?
preferably post things you would not be allowed to do if you were still a jw!.
i will start, i want to go to an actual horse race, and have a small flutter on each race..
I want to travel abroad to India, Vietnam, China, and Japan. I want to visit Buddhist temples and meditate under the bodhi tree.

If the Catholic Church gave us the Bible, is the Catholic Church God's "Faithful and Discreet Slave"?
Martin Luther is responsible for the removal 1 and 2 Maccabees, Judith, Tobit, Baruch, Sirach, and Wisdom, and additions to the books of Esther and Daniel from the Bible. Luther wanted to also remove the books of Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation. Luther championed this because all these books in part conflict with his teachings of sola gratia and sola fide (by faith and grace alone). Why do Jehovah's Witnesses agree with Martin Luther by removing books of the Bible cannon, but reject Luther's teachings of salvation through faith and grace alone?
do you think it’s a good idea?.
As a law enforcement veteran of over 20 years my short answer is - yes. Here is my long answer -
Any given day in the U.S. hundreds of 911 calls come into communications centers like this:
"911. State the nature of your emergency."
"My adult son hasn't taken his psyche meds in 3 days. He's locked himself in his bedroom and is punching holes into the walls. Please send help."
"Stay on the phone with me, ma'am. Police are on the way."
Dispatchers in the U.S. can respond to most 911 calls only 3 ways - 1) send the police, 2) send fire/ems, or 3) send both. Fire always stages from a distance until "the scene is safe" (i.e. zero chance of violence). So, 1 or 2 officers go into this lady's house, try to use their 8 hours of training (videos and death by powerpoint) to talk the 26 year old mentally ill man who is off his meds out of his room so they can hand him over to EMS for transport to a mental hospital. Only the mentally ill man comes out and tries to fight the police, tries to stab one of the officers with a 12 inch long screwdriver, and ends up getting shot. So this poor woman calls for help and instead she gets to witness her son killed in a hail of bullets in her own house. If she and her son are a minority ethnic group and the police are not, queue the protests and prep for riots.
Another common call:
"911. State the nature of your emergency."
"My 13 year old son is refusing to go to school. Please send the police."
Sounds ridiculous. Literally happens every day in my city. Just like any call, once you call the police the police are coming.
That is one of the prevailing issues. The police are law enforcement. Our job is to detect or investigate crimes and, if there is probable cause, make an arrest to start the due process of our criminal justice process.
The police are not mental health workers. The police are not social workers. The police are not civil litigation mediators. If you pay a guy to build you a new privacy fence and he only builds half of it and leaves it is not a crime. He failed to fulfill a contract. Hire an attorney and file a lawsuit.
So, by all means, cut police department budgets, but do so to fund other services. It has been stated that the 85/15 principle applies to the modern policing problem. 85 percent of that problem lies at the feet of the 15 percent - management. We don't need police reform. We need policing reform. Police Officers are rarely the problem. Policing policies made by police chiefs and elected officials are.
I long for the day when that poor lady calls 911 and the dispatcher says, "Emergency Mental Health Services are en route to help ma'am," and the police are the ones who stage at a distance just in case. I pray for the day when police chiefs adopt a policy that says, "If there is no chance of a crime involved we are not responding."
there is a article on firefox "would you stand up to an oppressive regime or would you conform?
here's the science" taken from "the conversation" by nick chater.
10-9-2019.. perhaps someone with computer skills can copy and post this article on this forum.
The human Ego is a safety mechanism the brain uses that has gone out of control. In short, the anxiety over dying or looking bad will hobble people from doing what is right. Ask the common man on the street "What are oppression or atrocities are you willing to take up arms, kill, and possibly die for?
i hear this from the leftist idiots all the time.
if someone breaks into your home 6 bullets are enough.
well if its a one of i would argue that i still my need more round for even just one person.
Taking a human life for any reason is not a laughing matter. If you are capable of taking a life to defend yourself, that is one thing. Bragging about in a post on the internet is a future defense attorney's nightmare.
recent controversies in america brought this to mind , although i don’t want this to become a political thread , rather to discuss the wts rules that stop a jw showing respect for the national anthem.. the watchtower says that doing so is an act of idolatry, giving worship to the state or its icon.
as such witnesses remain seated when the anthem is played.
in britain people simply stand quietly to show respect, there is no hand gesture.. when i was a boy, every cinema show and theatre concluded with the anthem, being played .usually it was orchestrally with no words sung.
This is such a convoluted subject for Witnesses in the U.S. Public schools K-12 start the day by standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Most professional sports leagues start their games with the national anthem.
As a Witness we were taught - for the Pledge of Allegiance it is alright to stand out of respect, but for the national anthem one must remain seated. The simple act of standing for the national anthem is an act of worship.
This made no sense to me. Like others, when I attended sporting events I would just head to the concession stands during the national anthem. As a kid I went with my friends and their father to a professional soccer (football) match. We sat during the national anthem. My friends' father was reading the newspaper while it played. We were heckled the whole time.
