They come to my door and say they have the truth but later on change their doctrine.
If it was the truth the first time round, why change?
It would be better to find the truth first and then tell me.
just writing down some notes to share with jws when i meet them.
here are a few of the problems of logic i see in their doctrines.
perhaps you can add to them.. systemic contradictions – jws boast about fighting for religious freedom – that is their freedom to share their differing views with people outside the organization - yet there is no freedom amongst members to disagree with any official teaching within the organization without the threat of losing friends and family.

They come to my door and try to dismantle mine. I look on it as a debate rather than an attack.
with all the cattle, sheep and others wouldn't they be shitting and peeing all over the place?
along with the gallons and gallons of blood being drained and then the flesh being burned as well.
wouldn't the stench be unbearable?.
I have often wondered about that.
They did eat some of the sacrifices, so it might have been no worse than our abattoirs. They would not have wanted bulls running around in panic killing people so it would have had to be well organised and blood collected and disposed of rather than being on the ground and slipped on.
No doubt there would have been smells and flies.
as you know (and are probably tired of hearing me repeat), i’m jewish.
yes, i was a jehovah’s witness when i was a teenager and into my 20s, but returned to my roots and now celebrate chanukah when the holiday season comes around each year.. so why am i writing about christmas?
well, that’s because i thought i would share something about how jehovah’s witnesses teach against christmas.
I see it as a time to look after your health, have plenty of good food and keep warm at a cold and depressing time of year. The ancients who started this custom knew what they were doing.
i had a discussion with 4 jws today and they told me that jesus could not be tempted, ( they say that he would not be perfect if he could) but also they told me that satan tempted jesus in the wilderness.. can anyone clarify their beliefs please.
i like to give them a reasoned argument when i talk to them, but have never noticed this conflict of ideas before..
How did Satan come to sin if he was created by God, and God's creation is perfect?
They told me that Adam sinned because he was tempted by Satan, and he would not have sinned otherwise.
None of it makes any sense. I can't understand why they can't see that.

i just phoned my cousin who's never been a jw.
last week she went with her son-in-law and my jw sister for a meal after planting a tree at her daughter's grave.
she said when my sister was dropped off at her house her husband said you do know she can't have toast.
Jesus clearly enjoyed his food and drink, including wine.
i note your comments in the following threads regarding the jewish perspective on certain old testament (ot) events:.

My conclusion about the Jewish perspective of the OT based on your various comments in this forum is that Judaism seems to be a rather fluid religion filled with reinterpretations and rationalizations as time goes by. What was considered literal today may not be literal tomorrow. Hindsight has a way of changing religion.
That sounds like my perception of JW beliefs, Deegee.
in the story in the gospel of mark, mark writes that jesus is hungry and comes across a fig tree.
mark explains that it not in season yet jesus upon finding the fig tree has produced no fruit kills the tree.. this story makes no sense if literal so do the gun teach that it literally happened?.
What do Jews think of Zechariah 14 which says that there will be an horrendous earthquake in Israel? Do you think it is intended to be taken literally.
Apologies to crazyguy for hijacking his thread.
so we were at another family members home for a random celebration when the nature channel showed a killer whale eating a seal and my sister in law was horrified.
we made a joke about the circle of life and i said something along the lines of 'everything that lives must die, the bible says every king must die, so even jesus wasn't immune'.
after that comment there was an awkward silence with our jw family whispering to each other about my comment of dying.. once upon a time i asked my uber elder jw brother if he thought that he would not die and he asked me if i knew when god would start armageddon.
I wonder how they will cope with nuclear power stations going into melt down if there are no skilled staff to keep them under control after their version of Armageddon.
