I can remember when I pioneered, the amount of pioneers who counted their hours by doing next to nothing was staggering. The amount of witnessing hours reported will be nowhere near the amount actually done.

The antidote to the myth that JWs are declining
by slimboyfat inone of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.
unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.
jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

7 graphs that prove America is overrated
by Simon inbefore the usual suspects start reaching for the pich-forks and forming a mob, i invite you to actually read and consider this, not just leap to conclusions.. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/americas/united-states/130607/7-graphs-america-overrated-nsa-prism-privacy.
why do i care?
it seems the people being screwed the most are also the most visciferous defenders of the status quo which sees them being severely disadvantaged.. maternity leave?

I don't think showing some graphs amount to hating a country. I certainly don't hate the US. If I believed in god I'd want him to bless humanity rather than just one country.
Scotland has one of the worst rates of heart disease in Europe, not idea really but I don't think those who point that out hate Scotland.

I had no problem viewing the page. It won't go down well with those who think its the 'best country in the world'...

Whether they are growing or not, what difference does it make?

I thnk the reduction in hours for a pioneer is a massive reason why there are many more now. I'm not sure what the reg hours are now, I think it's 60? That a massive difference from 90 when you are also trying to earn a living at the same time.
i know the cong I was part of in Scotland years ago has decreased. I am very good friends with an ex elder who left just 2 years ago, he was telling me when he was an elder in 2011 there were only 3 elders in the hall. There was something like 15 when I was there.
Figures are deceiving. Whether there are more jw's now, less, more or less elders, more or less pioneers, what difference does it make? It could increase 10 fold and it wouldn't be any more true than it is today. Something is still false whether 10 believe it or 10 million.

I agree with cofty, the bible mentioning something in it that says its from god isn't a strong argument. Or any argument at all.

Letter from and to my JW Niece
by Nosferatu inmy niece is on fb.
she's a very creative and lovely person, but she's the only other family member i have who's a jw.
her mother got booted out for smoking, and her brother just seems to know it's a bunch of crap.. on fb, i posted a funny status update that went something like this: "my mother brought me up and hoped that i would grow into a career that would fulfill her dreams.

Unbelievable Experience in Yearbook
by gingerbread ina number of years back i heard a story of a young girl in a congregation ( i have some good friends in this hall ) who had an amazing field service experience.
it was so amazing that it was retold in the 2007 yearbook!.
it is retold in the highlight of the past year section.

I can remember being on the assembly platform giving an 'experience'....even though I didn't have an experience to give, they wanted me since I was a fire breathing newbie. Same with a mate of mine on the same day. Just all bollocks really.

How can one understand unusual personal experiences such as when going from door-to-door?
by Fernando ingiven that i know how corrupt, dishonest and evil the watchtower is, i have wondered how to understand a personal experience i had many years ago - long before walking out mid-2009.. after an unusual series of many "co-incidences" on a particular sunday, my friend and i ended up at the door of someone who had been praying to god for someone to be sent to him, and who was expecting us.. i am still convinced it was by divine intervention, but cannot understand why a prayer is answered by sending representatives of an apostate organisation.. also when taking up residence in a foreign country, under very difficult circumstances, i twice ended up "inadvertently" moving in to homes just around the corner from the kh.
on one occasion it was about a 15 metre walk from my front door right into my seat in the kh!.
have you had similar experiences?.
