Rutherfords view of the Holy Spirit
by Christ Alone indoes anyone have scans of these references?
this comment was taken from http://ed5015.tripod.com/jwoccultconnection58.htm.
joseph rutherford, the second president of the wts, believed his spiritual enlightenment came from angels because the holy spirit had ceased functioning since 1918. the angels channeled information into his mind from god residing on the star alcyone.

Nothing surprises me anymore but this takes the biscuit, so I'd love to see scans of these.

Would this t shirt get you in trouble
by slimboyfat ini met a jw in town yesterday while i was wearing this t shirt.
it didn't even occur to me it was a problem because it is a joke , but he seemed really annoyed about it and kind of cut me short.

Soul Searching, need advice re: Physical Attraction
by Nice_Dream inok, so i was a young jw when i got married, and married a nice guy who was my first boyfriend.
i thought we had chemistry, but things weren't really working out in the sex department after we got married.
we had a pretty infrequent sex life for our whole realtionship...i'm talking months of dry spells.

Quarterback - the sex thing is really over rated
I've never felt that sex is over rated. Then again I've never felt that tiny things are over rated, like leaving wee notes, buying wee gifts, nice surprises, telling your lady that she looks amazing. Although in saying that i've made a right royal arse of a couple of great relationships so i'm doing something wrong!

Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?
by slimboyfat inas i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?
why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?
it's almost enough to make you suspect they are a embarrassed about it.. mention it once or twice, don't dwell on it, hope everyone just accepts it, and don't bring it up again.

I thought the same as you mate but now having read more of this persons comments I now think they mean every word of it. Terrifying that individuals like this exist.
Your question was from a level headed individual, from a common sense stand point. When part of a barbaric religion common sense is chucked out the window.

slimboyfat - You are joking, right? (sorry, I'm not sure how to quote here)
No, he jokes not. It's impossible to reason with this person. It's been pointed out to this person the Awake! article that stated, in writing, the FACT that young people alive at that time would not grow old. That was a lie. It wasn't misleading, it was a pure and utter lie. This person defends that, he should be completely ignored.

What has or would motivate you to attend an Ex-JW meet up...
by Tuesday ini just wanted to get a general consensus of what are the motivations to attend an ex-jw meet up.
if you've already attended one before, what motivated you the first time or each successive time?
if you've never attended an ex-jw meet up before what do you think could motivate you to attend one?.

IS GOD REAL? HOW DO YOU KNOW?
by still thinking inthis is an honest question on my part.
someone on this board asked me 'how do you know' a while ago and i really struggled with it.
in fact, it was a turning point for me.

Sill Thimking, you've started a thread that gets you thinking and that can only be a good thing. I've really enjoyed reading the interesting thoughts of thinkers, I've loved reading the comments of New Chapter, Snare, Cofty, Zid, really engaging conversation and fires the mind. I've always loved this quote “What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.”

Snare said - Define spirituality? The WT stole it and turned it into a gauge of commitment. It is nothing of the sort, it is a state of humble wonder.
I couldn't agree more.
