Lot's of talk on the July Watchtower?

so i've heard lots of talk from within about the 'new light' in this watchtower...i'm yet to look at it in any detail.

i'm kind of surprised actually...i first heard about it here before it was even available but close to the time it did come out people started bringing it up - even our co.. some say things like "have you heard about this?

" or "big changes," or "allot of things they said we believed, i didn't realize,"(lots of that) or "brain-overload" or " too much information, but i've never felt more pumped up" or "it's soo exciting to see jehovah's spirit lead his organization..." or "it requires time to sink in, but it's a good feeling!

which begs the question, what mandate do the GB/FDS have to act as the 'owner' / 'master' of their fellow slaves? it seems to me to be going over and above the masters' original request, which was to FEED, No more authority was given to do anything else.

@Splash, almost, 1914 stays, but the link between 1914-1918 3½yrs = Jesus 3½yrs inspection and "cleansing of the temple" followed by the appointment of the FDS over all the masters earthly kingdom possesions has now done been away with. Instead Jesus inspected & chose in 1919 ONLY. But he did not make any appointment over his belongings, but only to supply food at the proper time to the domectics which now include those who are not Annointed.

last night my husband and i watched a special on the history channel about the knights templar.

about two weeks before i showed my husband the 607/587 blunder.

first off, he didn't even know that 607 was relevant to jw teachings.

Quick and easy 607 question

really, this should be easy if you have the cd rom (i don't).. somewhere in the societies publications, they try to denigrate the reliability of an ancient tablet by citing a source which shows big gaps in the translation (lots of [] and .

's) evidently because this tablet was so beat up and broken, half the words are missing, thus secular historical records are worthless, trust the bible.. if i remember this correctly, the actual source of the quote goes on to say something to the effect of 'fortunately the obverse side of the tablet contains all the information in tact' - a fact the wt conveniently leaves out.. i had thought this quote was either from insight or the all scripture book, but i can't find it in either.

anyone know what publication this is from?

Lars I am not in a position to refute what you say, all I can say is that I do not know of any 'experts' of history or archaeology of this period that have published peer reviewed papers that agree with your conclusions. Its clear that you have put alot of thought into your research, perhaps it is time to submit that research to the 'experts' for an open critique/review so changes can be put forward to the accepted chronololgy/history of this period if your research is indeed accurate. I am sure historians would welcome accurate info of this period. after all they are not the WT. Until then......

thank you AnnOMaly, your last paragraph is most helpfull. for lurkers: Nabopollasar was the first Neo Babylonian King - Nebuchadnezzer's dad - & Nabonidus was the LAST King (co_regency with Belshazzer) when Babylon fell in 539bce.
