by ExBethelitenowPIMA ini think it was a john cedars video or someone else’s where the point was brought up that only baptised jws will be saved?
then one talk about kids of baptised jws hope they will make it but even them don’t know.
most jws probably think that some good people who are not baptised may make it through, but this is not official teaching?.

Did Jesus say the God of the OT is not the same God as mine??
by Diogenesister inbart erhman states, in this you tube short presumably taken from the video series he has been doing with megan lewis*, that jesus said the god of the ot, the god of jeremiah, is not the (same)god as jesus.
bart continues "jeremiah's god killed (the children) - jesus said let the children come to me.
jesus' god said turn the other cheek" - the ot god was war-like etc (paraphrasing bart here a bit).. it's always been the thing that stopped my fully embracing the bible after leaving watchtower.

Creating doubt is a good thing, doubt is the engine that drives research. Without doubt where would curiosity be? What new truths would remain undiscovered if no-one ever doubted orthodoxy?
I for one shall not be moved!!
Terrible attitude. Fossils and corpses don't move, the living should be ever moving and inquisitive.

It's been a long 9 years Lloyd Evans / John Cedars

Lloyd films “sushi episodes” individually and tibor puts them together into one long video
All this time I thought it was the other way around. Lloyd rambling on in a two to three hour video then Tibor chopping that up into smaller 'sushi' clips.
My ignorance come from only ever having watched the meltdown video. It was a classic though. 😆

Treatment of Those Trying For Reinstatement
by Vanderhoven7 inwhat happens when a jehovah’s witness who has been disfellowshipped returns to attending the meetings again?.
mark jones writes:.
if it's the same congregation that they previously attended then, yes, the congregation will remember who they are and so continue to treat them as dead or invisible.. one of the identifying marks a cult is that it uses shame and humiliation to control members, to keep them from leaving and manipulating those who escaped into coming back.. a disfellowshipped person is never allowed to quietly leave with dignity.

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26
I don't think Jesus is exactly a role model for promoting family unity.

How do you feel about Brexit?
by SydBarrett inthe "independent scotland" thread got me thinking on this.
there are a lot of brits on this board.
what are your thoughts on brexit?

I normally avoid political topics. I'm usually not that interested and I know I'm pretty ignorant but the Brexit thing is interesting because I'm living through it with all my fellow Brits.
What I want to know is, where's the benefit? Seriously, I compare my life pre and post Brexit and see no upside to leaving at all. If I've missed it please educate me.

Moral responsibility.
by nicolaou inno subtlety here, it's going to be obvious where i'm going with this.
please consider the following scenario.. you're seated on a railway platform bench waiting for your train.
a high speed intercity is about to hurtle through without stopping when you see a small child running to the platforms edge!

My point remains valid even if that's true.

Does anyone remember the 70's TV miniseries Roots? It told the story of Kunta Kinte, an African man captured and sold into slavery, and of his descendants and their subsequent mistreatment on the road to freedom.
I remember one scene where the author ,who is trying to discover his roots, is confonted by a racist who trys to 'educate' him saying that the intelligence clearly shown by this black man can only be accounted for by the fact that some of his ancestors were white (the rapist plantation owners).
Sea Breeze and others employ a similar scurrilous tactic. Apparently, the only reason atheists have any morality is because of our ancestor/creator. Our Heavenly Father. God.
Couldn't be that we've arrived at an ethical and moral outlook on our own.
Sea Breeze in my opinion doesn't represent most Christians. He's unashamedly condescending, blind to his own arrogance and dismissive of established scientific discoveries because he knows better.
He's the equivalent of the offensive, racist, dinosaur who just cannot accept reality. I won't be wasting my time on him.

Your answer presupposses that you know what harmful or good to others is
I know that allowing a child to fall under a train is harmful. You keep throwing the insult of chemical accident around but this chemical accident clearly has more compassion than a self declared creation of God.

I often wondered what would happen in such an emergency as post # 1
You ignore your instructions and do the right thing.

Just because some moral issues are more controversial and open to argument doesn't mean that they all are.
I asked about the morality of needlessly allowing a child to die and all you've done is look for a way to justify that death.
So much for Christian morality.
