Blood Cards on File with the Elders?
by EyesOpenHeartBroken ini have a question for elders here or recent elders.
were the elders, in the last 10 years, given instruction to keep a copy of every publishers blood card on file at the kh?.
we moved to our current cong 6 years ago, and shortly after we moved in, the boe requested everyone update and give a copy of card to the kh.

I have never been asked for a copy of the blood card. Good thing, cause I don't have one anyway -

Is the Pioneer School being eliminated?
by wannaexit ini heard from the semi reliable source that the pioneer schools will go the way of the dodo bird next year.. i could see this happening.
it used to be that you went to the the pioneer school once.
then they allowed dubs to go every 5 years.

I believe that the designation of pioneer with a time requirement was to qualify then as full time ministers. It was all about presenting a record for the draft board. Just my theory. -

The pioneer school is not a high cost item for them to put in, so I doubt it will be stopped. Maybe shortened or format-changed. -

The new Fred Franz?
by careful inof course, no one could ever fully replace "our oracle for over 50 years" (ray franz quoting karl klein or someone else on the gb back in the days of gb i in cofc somewhere ), but i have to wonder just who on gb ii has come to fill fred franz's shoes the most.
it seems like it is david splane.
he appears to be in charge of the writing department, proposes and pushes thru the gb most of the doctrinal changes (he announces them so they're his baby), and like ff, fancies himself musically inclined.

Nineteenth Century religion had its last hurrah with the likes of Fred Franz and Herbert Armstrong. Their era has passed and it won't be back, at least in developed countries. The WT leadership doesn't really have a chance. -

What are the economics of cart witnessing?
by slimboyfat inon another thread shepherdless sketched out the past business model of jws and its demise.
until 1990 they were a straightforward publishing business with the tremendous advantage of free labour in production and free distribution agents.
since then they've been relying on donations for literature to keep the old model going.

The cart witnessing is still only a small percentage of time and effort spent. I think it is more about just keeping the JWs occupied, whether it effective or not is immaterial -

God Made Eve From Adam’s Penis, Not His Rib, Academic Claims
by OrphanCrow inthere are days that i drop to the ground and kiss the earth in gratitude that i was born a woman.
at least women didn't have anything to do with writing the bibble.
and women don't come up with this nonsense.

Biblical Archaeology Review, Sept/Oct 2015 gave 4 pages, as well as the front cover, to this topic by Ziony Zevit. I didn't find the article convincing or even interesting, but it's definitely unusual. -

As an organization, the Skakers can hardly be said to exist. There are only a handful ( I think only 3 or 4) Shakers now. They are all at Sabbathday Lake, Maine. -

On the Yearbook's Report(Again)
by Alex Bryant inhello.
i have a question about the number of publishers reported on the yearbook.
i was wondering if this number refers only to the number of publishers baptized or to the overall number of publisher(baptized & not baptized).
-

I would guess that the number of baptized would be much more than the number of publisher, some that would include all who have ceased reporting time and have faded. In my experience this would be a lot of people. -

It's really strange that they don't report the number of baptized people alive at any given time. That would be an interesting number. They do keep records of it at a congregation level, so why not publish it?
