Massive Plunge in Number of New JW Congregations from 1990 to 2014
by steve2 inin a separate thread on the very latest figures for the current world wide annual report of jws, discussion turned to how "we'll know decline has really set in.
one of the posters said: .
the figure that interests me most is the number of congregations.

One of the posters Evidently meant that the number of congregations is increasing due to the overlapping generations of footstep followers. -

I can't see the caption very clearly, but I think the accident must have involved a car, and the flatbed is the wrecker to haul away the car. -

Looks more like they are loading or unloading off the flatbed, rather than an accident. -

Seems odd that the Bible never mentions Pryamids?
by dropoffyourkeylee indoesn't it seem strange that the bible never mentions the pyramids?
how could someone go to egypt at that time and not even so much as mention the huge monuments?

Considering that these were rough measurements made by priests who didn't actually make the molten sea, it isn't too far off. If you consider that the diameter is possibly an outside measurement, and that the thickness of the walls is a'hand's width', the circumference ( measured by a rope laying along the top of the wall, for instance) would be very close to 30.

Bethels all downsizing within a year?
by Formerbrother inwhy is there a huge cull going on of all bethels around the world?.
about 80% cull within the next year?.
some have been in bethel for decades and will be sent packing, the 20% of bethelites who stay will have to do their own food, laundry and clean their flat.

Most of the previous posts over the pas few weeks on this subject have indicated a downsize of about 20%, with 80% remaining. -

Question about the Anointed. At one time they invited Anointed ones to Bethel for a special meeting.
by James Mixon inwhat was the purpose for those meetings?
?

There was a time (1970's and before) that the annual meeting was only open to voting members of the Society. Most or all of them were anointed ( at that time) so there was a perception that they were going to a special meeting for the anointed. But it wasn't, it was just the annual meeting. I knew one of the voting members (now deceased) and I remember some talk about it. -

Brother Tim Horton, the new service overseer
by dropoffyourkeylee instopped in tim horton's ( a donut shop) at 10:00 a m today and there were no less than 12 jws in there from three different car groups.
it took about 25-30 minutes for them all to get their orders and get on their way.
that's almost 6 hours of service time in the glorious 'ministry'.

Nobody cares how unproductive the service is, as long as they report their hours. It is more of a social thing now, to build and maintain cohesion in the group, and has little to do with finding 'sheep'. -

Never Bring a Knife to a Drone Fight
by LoveUniHateExams inapparently, it's good news, everybody - mohammed emwazi (aka jihadi john) has been targeted by a us drone strike.
the location was in raqqa, syria, a few yards from isis hq, near a clock tower where crucifixions are carried out.
there are conflicting reports, some say he died instantly at 11:40pm yesterday, others say that he was badly injured and taken to a nearby hospital.. from what i've previously read about emwazi, he was apparently terrified of being targeted by drones - yesterday it seems his nightmare was made reality.

He was really asking for it. -

Is the Borg winding down printing altogether?
by slimboyfat inthe thread about magazines stopping distribution in india reminded me of a recent conversation.
a local brother said he asked for a copy of the new organisation book for publishers.
the elder told the brother to print it out if he wanted a physical copy.

In the US the print industry is greatly declining and has put some companies virtually out of business. Newsweek and Encyclopedia Britannica come to mind. I could see the WT printing being eliminated in developed nations. However, in undeveloped countries there is still a need for print.
