Never Bring a Knife to a Drone Fight
by LoveUniHateExams inapparently, it's good news, everybody - mohammed emwazi (aka jihadi john) has been targeted by a us drone strike.
the location was in raqqa, syria, a few yards from isis hq, near a clock tower where crucifixions are carried out.
there are conflicting reports, some say he died instantly at 11:40pm yesterday, others say that he was badly injured and taken to a nearby hospital.. from what i've previously read about emwazi, he was apparently terrified of being targeted by drones - yesterday it seems his nightmare was made reality.

Is the Borg winding down printing altogether?
by slimboyfat inthe thread about magazines stopping distribution in india reminded me of a recent conversation.
a local brother said he asked for a copy of the new organisation book for publishers.
the elder told the brother to print it out if he wanted a physical copy.

In the US the print industry is greatly declining and has put some companies virtually out of business. Newsweek and Encyclopedia Britannica come to mind. I could see the WT printing being eliminated in developed nations. However, in undeveloped countries there is still a need for print. -

Sounds like an interesting book in the works. It reminds me of Angels and Women, which is familiar to WT observers on this site. It is a fictional account of the last years before the Flood from the narrative of Japheth's wife. -

We were taught there were rings around the earth ( the firmament above the expanse, going back to KJV terminology). the rings were where the water vapor was held until the flood. Also the rings caused a greenhouse effect that explained the vegetation in the Arctic , mastodons with green vegetation in their mouths, quickfrozen when the firmament fell. All based on Isaac Vail's theories published in 1912. -

I am thinking the words were , ' now did Noah reject that assignment since he never had built arcs before, Something something , and he built and he preached more and more'. Of course there could have been an earlier version of the same song. -

I was taught the same thing in the 60's. It was part of a pseudo science theory of a 1800's crackpot named Isaac Vail.
I haven't heard it mentioned for years, so I don't know if is still taught or not.

Brother Tim Horton, the new service overseer
by dropoffyourkeylee instopped in tim horton's ( a donut shop) at 10:00 a m today and there were no less than 12 jws in there from three different car groups.
it took about 25-30 minutes for them all to get their orders and get on their way.
that's almost 6 hours of service time in the glorious 'ministry'.

I recall that Pastor Russell had a village so enamored of his teachings that they named their village after him. Last I knew it still had it, Russellpuram or something like that. -

I have heard speakers say ( about vocal apostates), ' why don't they just leave?'. I have always wanted to shout out ' why don't you let the leave without repercussions? Why don't you let someone annul their baptism without making them bear the heavy cost of shunning from their family. How can you hold shunning over someone's head just because they were baptized, often at an age too yojng to make such a commitment?

Do You Think 10% Tithing is Coming?
by xjwsrock infirstly, there are cash flow problems in wt town.
i don't think it's necessary to list all the cutbacks and layoffs, but there have been many.. their thirst for money seems higher too in my opinion.
more entitled may be a better way of putting it.

Many churches are set up like a business with a paid minister , as well as other employees, also paid. Bus service and the like. They need a tithe to operate like that. Unless the WT goes that route, I don't think a 10% tithe will ever happen.
