First, it is curious that the name Jehovah is not mentioned at all, but Satan is the main subject in 4 of the 9 verses.
Second, there is no mention of Christian living and values, which I would say is the main message of Christianity
against some suspicions about security that i had, i just downloaded the new jw library app onto my ipad.
among its top features, it has an "introduction that answers 20 bible questions.
(click introduction tab at top).

after some considerable thought i have decided that i will no longer post on this forum because i want to return to jehovah.
thank you for all the kindness and many interesting discussions over the years.
i wish you all well in the future and the decisions you make.
I expect he'll be back someday
there's no heaven...... it's easy if you try.... i am not a huge fan of the beatles, not a fan of john lennon really either.
however, this song is one that i think most people tend to like for its airy feel and sentiment.
the funniest thing to me is how the opening 9 words of this song really really really make one think about belief.. honestly for one second trying to imagine there is no heaven, it is easy if you try.
The following quotation is from a 1953 Watchtower. I posted it a while back and the consensus was that it was not the real Lennon, but still I think it's hilarious.
Ten-year-old John Lennon was called to the witness stand [in Middlesbrough, England] to give evidence in an auto case. When the boy placed his hand on the Bible to take an oath that he would testify only the truth, the judge asked him if he knew what book he was swearing on. “No,” John answered. “Have you ever heard of the Bible?” “No.” “Have you ever heard of God?” “No.” The judge heard the evidence without the oath.—U. P. report in Chicago Sun-Times, May 23.
first, thanks to zound for posting the link re: the 135th gilead graduation.
watching it got me thinking.... .
some years back (2007-2009?
Interesting subject.
Since the Gilead School has been changed (ie no longer trains missionaries) maybe it is not a surprise that some of the instructors were reassigned And we are reading too much into it.
Concerning the new NWT, so far I haven't seen any evidence of Greek or Hebrew scholarship. I could duplicate everything they have done with standard reference books like Strong's and a Lexicon, coupled with a dozen or so other recent translations like the NASB.
i had posted this a few days ago and got no response, then i realized i had messed up the title, so here goes again;.
i have learned from a credible source that jws from the us have recently gone to morocco to witness, where the work is under ban, and while living there have lived under assumed names.
this is (according to my source) under the direction of the branch (i'm not sure which branch it would be, but i would guess france).
To clarify the OP, I was not informed if the 'missionary' Witnesses in Morocco are told to witness only to Christians, or if they preach to Muslims too. I don't believe they do a western style door-to-door ministry there. In any case it is a dangerous situation to be in.

My issue with this has more to do with safety. The couple referred to in the OP are in their 20's who travelled to Morocco on their own money as American citizens (they are from NY state). They are not officially missionaries (I did not learn if they are Couples School grads) but they went at the arrangement of the branch, who advised them to live under false names. I understand that open preaching to Muslims is outlawed and severely punished. So what happens if things go sour? Would the away WT back them up to get them home safe? I doubt it. And would the American embassy help after finding out they were living under false names? it's outrageous that the WT would put these young folks at such risk, all for the sake of their pitiful excuse of a message.
There I've had my rant... I'm done now.

This is (according to my source) under the direction of the branch (I'm not sure which branch it would be, but I would guess France). I'm thinking, isn't that illegal? How can they get away with that? What would the American embassy say about that? if this is true I am simply shocked.
Has anyone else heard of Witnesses using false names and pretexts to evade the authorities in countries like Morocco?
i do.. what does the soceity actually say about them?
(i know some the members of the gb use them) .
what do you think about using them at meetings?
Last month the Circuit overseer was in our area (midwest US) and after he left they made it clear that tablets were not to be used by any of the TMS speakers, or from the platform, unless it were a demonstration on the service meeting. The reason given was that since they are relatively expensive, some might feel pressured to buy one and feel bad if they didn't have one.
But that was before the new Bible and new App release, and I didn't hear the letter this week.
Admittedly, trying to find a Bible verse with the app is a little cumbersome compared to the usual way.

using that, which and who to introduce clauses and when to use commas:.
the little boy who lives next door is a noisy, hell-raising brat.
"who lives next store" describes one little boy in particular, not the entire neighborhood of nice and respectful children; therefore, that clause is not set off by commas.
I am glad the new NWT has corrected the numerous who/that grammatical errors like at John 5:30 "the will of him that sent me".
