  personally, i could care less about god and/or jesus, have no use for either of them, very disappointed in how they run things.

  and when i die, i hope i get the chance to tell him/them that.. there was a great song in the late 80's early 90's by depeche mode called blasphemous rumours(spelling ?

  ) "i don't want to start any blasphemous rumours, but i think that god has a sick sense of humour, and when i die i expect to find him laughing.".

  a question for the 'mericans, of which we have one or two here.

  you've probably communicated with more brits here than you had in all your life before joining this board.. leaving aside the stereo type brit of the movies, stiff upper-lip, unarmed policemen, morris minors and mini's, are we just as you expected us to be?.

  I finally did it !!

  for most of my adult life i have always been reluctant to mention that i was raised a jw, just out of pure embarassment, it has always been a source of shame for me.

  last night i was finally able to tell people that i work with that my family are jw's.

  the whole thing that started the conversation was another officer talking about an inmate in the hospital having a blood transfusion, that was my way in to the conversation.

  I also try to preach the message about JWS every chance I get.
  
  I've had a few people react with surprise when I tell them that JWs are a cult.
  
  People just have this image of nicely dressed people going to the doors to talk about their religion.
  
  So of course I have to explain why they're a cult.
  
  Usually when you explain that JWs MUST blindly follow whatever the WTS COMMANDS them to follow that gets their attention.
  
  And when you mention the deaths caused by JW teachings, that usually makes an impact even more so than the many, many, many .... changes in their teachings.

  belief in angels & demons, the same as extraterrestrials?

  are angels/demons/god in fact aliens?

  i know that word 'alienz' will put a lot of people off, but really, are extraterrestrials the same thing as the beings in the bible, and is it just a choice in terminology of which words we are more comfortable with using, if you think they are not the same thing, why do you think this?.

  At one time I would have sworn that aliens could not be angels,demons or God. But now?
  
  I don't know.
  
  Looking back in the OT, there are scriptures that seem to be talking about ufos.
  
  The scripture of Abraham (I think) wrestling with God?
  
  That one certainly raises some questions.
  
  Angels being atracted to human females and giving up their position in Heaven to come down and have relations with them and proce offspring?
  
  We are taught that angels are perfect spirit beings with no flesh and blood.
  
  How did they transform themselves into beings capable of producing sperm?
  
  And if they were perfect spiritual beings, why and how did they get turned on by humans?
  
  That would be like us getting turned on by ants. OK. There are some ants with a good shape but they don't do anything for me.
  
  And as far as Niburu,PX, planet X.(for those reading up on it) Revelation says Wormwood is coming. Wormwood is another name for lanet X.
  
  Back in the days of the OT and before, people were very superstitious.
  It would not be dificult to imagine them seeing beings from other places and consider them angels or even God.
  
  As time goes on and we humans aquire more and more info about life and existance our outlook on such things will change.
  
  Just look how our little group here has changed because of info.
  Once we were JWs enslaved to the WTS selling books and swearing it was the truth.
  Many of us would have gone to our graves believing that. But now?
  Because of our ability to look at info and use the brains God gave us, we see what the WTS realy is and our attitudes about it have changed.
  
  
  So are angels/demons/god in fact aliens?
  
  They could be.

  i have been poking around the forum for a while.

  i have looked at a lot people's experiences on the forum and many of them mirror my own.

  here is my disassociation letter.

  Good letter.
  
  As has been said, send copies to your family and friends first before the elders.
  
  That will give them a chance to read it because they may not once the elders make the anouncement of your DA.
  
  As far as the elders reading the whole letter, they probably won't get past the part where you say that you're DAing yourself.
  
  DAing one self is a personal choice. The problem with doing that tho is that it makes the WTS' job easier.
  
  I personally refuse to DA. I am still able to talk to JWs even tho they consider me bad asociation.
  
  And every chance I get I mention something to them about the WTS that they may not know.
  
  I consider it my contribution to spreading the truth.

  i just discovered onion radio today.. actually i always knew it was there but never paid attention to it.

  but since i gutted my pc recently and did not re-up music match jukebox this time, i've been listening to launch via yahoo.

  this morning i tuned into "onion river radio" and i really like it a lot.

  So How Good Was Roy Orbison Then?

  i've got loads of his stuff.. i particularly liked him when he was playing with the travelling wilburys.

  tom petty, george harrison & bob dylan along with orbison, jamming in a warehouse while singing "handle with care".. yet..i always had this sneaky feeling that he was struggling to stay in tune and that his golden voice covered over the glitches.. i recently downloaded him singing "bridge over troubled water" accompanied by the mavericks.

  it's very much orbison as he employs his remarkable timbre to cover the difficult notes, but this time it doesn't come off at all well.. btw, i can only sing in tune after 4 or 5 pints and then i have a sneaking suspicion that my voice stays the same but that my ears become less fussy.. whaddyathink?.

  No Visit of Encouragement

  i have a question that hopefully someone can answer.

  i am currently disfellowshiped but attending the sunday meetings at the kingdom hall.

  i live with my mother who is in her late 70's and has been a witness for over 50 years.

  That's it in a nut shell.
  
  Why don't they spend more time or actually any time teaching what Jesus taught as far as the fruits of the spirit?
  
  Taking care of the elderly,feeding the hungry, helping the poor,ect...ect....?
  
  Because there is no money to be made in doing these things. That is why.
  
  The WTS really shouldn't even be clasified as a Christian denomination.
  
  It is just a business. A book selling bussiness. They have free labor so there is no cost for them there. They have their own free labor purchasing their publications that the labor helped produce for free so there is a large profit for the WTS in that area.
  
  They get their free labor to feel guilty if they don't donate more and more money as well as leave their money and material goods to the WTS upon their death so they get more and more financial gain in that respect.
  
  Ok. The WTS says preaching is a comandment that must be done.
  
  What about their publications can be considered preaching about God when the info found in them gets changed every few years?
  
  So they realy aren't preaching any truths about God.
  
  So the free labor is giving everything they have including their lives to a book publishing company that can care less about them if they aren't out selling WTS publications.

  i just read a few paragrphs from an older publication from the society.

  it's called "the meek shall inherit the earth" written in 1945....pages 24-27. after armageddon....dubs will be assigned where they will live.....they can't choose their spot.
