It took two tries but I was able to finally get through this cringe-worthy video.

I don't think the society has any concept of personal finance. How on earth could this couple own a well furnished home while they were both pioneering? I smell high credit card debt. It is highly doubtful that they could get under the mountain of debt to simplify lives.

It is much easier to get into debt as compared to getting out of debt.

But I am sure this video will be met with applause and tears when shown to the r&f.

I would ask him to explain the overlapping generation.

I would also ask why a religion is the "one true religion" when I was lied to my whole life. How can lies and truth be part of the same construct?

Special Talk from the GB?

a current jw told me there was going to be a special talk (tm) from the governing body(r) next month.

apart from the usual hilarious jw tv stuff, i haven't heard of anything.. any info any one?

the jw didn't seem to know much either.

Don't you know that every talk given by the GB is special. They each have a direct link to god.

when i was a teenager in the borg i was a dyed in the wool, goody two shoes, squeaky clean,"spiritual " sister.

alot of my peers around me were rebelling and going off the rails but not me.

i was constantly praised for this and even felt a little smug about it ha!.

Count me in on the group you describe. Always sat in the front row of the KH with the other "good" kids and believed the crap that was forced onto me. If only we have a chance to relive our past.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM

i have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".

the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".

this is huge.

I remember they did this when I was an elder in the mid 90's. I thought they abandoned the forced compliance.

Confused: What does the overlapping generation really mean?

can someone help me understand how the wt came up with the overlapping generation theory?

i just don't understand it even though i read the information several times.

it's bewildering.

Desperately looking for ways to string people along and keep that carrot on the stick just out of reach.

While there is desperation in their strategy, they have time on their side. Dead people don't remember. If they can hang on for long enough the past will be forgotten.

The made a decision not to abandon 1914. But with 1914 still in the books they needed a way to connect to the current crowd.

I for one am quite impressed with their creativity. I doubt I could have thought of anything as creative.

Did You Get Invited to the Memorial?

i'm just wondering if jws keep inviting you back or if they've given up on you.. they haven't invited me for years..

I guess I could have picked one up from one of the watchtower trolleys that I pass. But in terms of someone actually sending me an invitation the answer is no. Which does not surprise me, I am totally off the WTs radar.
