Thanks for the background. I never heard what happened with the high speed printing. This is just another example of bad management in action.
Bad management has killed many organizations. I guess this ugly beast has found another victim.
the thread about magazines stopping distribution in india reminded me of a recent conversation.
a local brother said he asked for a copy of the new organisation book for publishers.
the elder told the brother to print it out if he wanted a physical copy.

Does anyone remember in the mid 1990s (before the internet was a significant presence) that the Watchtower purchased and installed this super high-speed printer at Wallkill. This was a big deal and was the reason for a lot of activity at the time. From what I recall it was big and expensive and was a major part of the corporate strategy.
I have often wondered what they did with that printer. And, why the holy spirit did not direct them to be proactive related to the pending paradigm shift in communication.
samuel herd made a statement a few weeks ago about halting construction work, laying off bethel workers and reducing printing output: severe cutbacks all round.
he said, like the head of a household, the gb has to make sure the organisation is living within its means.
but he added a very careful phrase, something like: "be assured brothers these measures have not been taken as a result of any lack of financial support on your part.
Interesting idea. I did a little research on google scholar on Cialdini’s principles of social influence.
I think you could find examples of a few of these influence strategies in Herd’s talk.
Cialdini (2009) outlined six principles of social influence routinely employed to sway potential consumers:
· Reciprocity (people feel obligated to comply with those who give them gifts),
· Liking (people say yes to those they like),
· Scarcity (people differentially value items they believe are scarce or dwindling in supply),
· Social Proof (people look to the behavior of similar others when they are unsure how to choose),
· Authority (people defer to the advice of experts and those in power), and
· Commitment & Consistency (people behave consistently with their commitments).
here is part 2..
so you will have some understanding of the boe i will reference in future posts, the following is who they are:.
the coordinator.
Sound inviting?
You have almost convinced me to go back. This sounds like a reality TV show. You should start charging admission.

oh dear.......
so many serious topics lately ... so for anyone who wants a break, it's trivia time and the subject is pop music.. which act is the only one to have a top 100 hit both before, during and after the beatles had theirs?.
no googling.
if you guess, you also need to add a trivia question for others to answer..

ha!
that is supposed to make people go back?!
Bohm, it looks like he has gained a few pounds since seeing him last.
Life must be good - he brings a who new meaning to "living large."
growing up my parents would barricade our home off by parking vehicles bumper to bumper - you would have to crawl under the cars or over the bumpers to get to our door.
also, we would turn off all the lights and hide in the back room away from the street.. that was the norm for me.
isnt that insane?
We passed out candy last night. I am pretty sure that the act did not increase demon activity in our home - Except that all the clocks got changed during the night!... hmmm. Perhaps the demons are playing a joke on me. Other than that, nothing indicates that our demons were affected one way or another by the candy incident.
now that district overseers have been deleted, now that bethelites are being devalued and increasingly dismissed, now that special pioneers are being deleted in u.s., and maybe elsewhere gradually.
who would have ever thought?.
yet, now what is the value to be a regular pioneer to the org?
Keeping people busy is the end game of the Watchtower. Encouraging pioneering does not require additional resources from the part of the Wt. The risk is all with the individual. But a busy witness is a good witness. So, they will continue to encourage this avenue of service. Recognizing full well that it is a waste of time.
so bethelites are being decreased...bethel homes even sold off.... special pioneers no longer being funded.. magazines getting smaller and published less frequently.. building work stopping or being reduced.. no large conventions and renting of venues.. etc.... so, money is not coming in anymore to cover the "expenses"??.
didnt the first ever watchtower said that when this occurs, it would be evidence of god no longer blessing the activity....
oh, and throughout the years, we have constantly been told that the "growth of the org and the projects such as buildings and contributions" etc were evidence of gods blessing.... .
"No large conventions and renting of venues"
I must have missed this. What is this about?
