I think for some in foreign countries, being a part of an American religion is very appealing.

Joseph and his generation
by maninthemiddle inso the wt used ex 1:6 to define a generation from the very beginning.
then in the this september broadcast the same person (splain) who spent 20 min with charts to explain a generation, makes a point that joseph and his brothers were very close in age?
(min 4:29).

Now if you were asked by someone to identify a scripture that tells us what a generation is, what scripture would you turn to? I'll give you a moment. Think about that.
My choice is Exodus 1:6. Let's read that. Exodus 1:6.The implication in this statement is that there are other scriptures to justify the broadening of a generation. If there were he should probably have use them, because expanding a generation based upon a set of brothers to include multiple generations just does not make sense.

how can navigate if our desire is for absolute truth...
by Ruby456 inor do we give in to social constructivism?
to relativity?
or is there a way to be real and then to say whats real that everyone agrees to?.

I consider truth a journey, not a destination.

Jehovah's Witnesses: the Brotherhood of Delusion
by TerryWalstrom ini am a curious person.
i am challenged by the unknown.
i can be driven, out of sheer frustration, to penetrate a closed veil of conspiracy.

Ignorance is a wonderful thing. It is reality that really sucks. That is the reason why illusions work. People want to escape.
BTW, great post. Disturbing, but great.

If You Refuse to Question, How Can You Be Sure of the Answer?
by xjwsrock in..... let's pose a forbidden question....is the jw faith actually the one true religion?
if you refuse to ask this question with a true open mind and heart, how can it be said you know the answer is yes?
put another way..... if you refuse to ask this question today, how can you really say you know today that the answer is yes?.

Of course it is the one true religion. That is of course when it is not. And when it is not it is simply an opportunity for new light. Once the new light kicks in - back to the one true religion.
...very simple, really.

This thread showed up on the right of my screen. It has been 10 years - time flies when you are having fun. The JW faith is a very different religion than it was 10 years ago. I am sure the old timers are rolling in their graves.
I can imagine that within the next 10 years, the religion will be unrecognizable.
