much has already been written about dr monica applewhite, the expert witness hired by the jw organization.

her job was to provide "expert" testimony to the australian commission of inquiry into jehovsh's witnesses' policies and practices on child sexual abuse.

astonishingly, dr applewhite was unprepared for the inquiry lawyers' questions.

I watched part 1 & 2 of the interrogation of Applewhite. I am absolutely astounded by the preparedness of the RC. The gentleman who did the inquiry was well prepared and was able to capture the nuances of the Watchtower-speak.

Applewhite seemed like she expected to accept her testimony just because she was an "expert." The first 20 minutes where the RC did a granular review of her CV essentially set the stage for showing that she did not have a great background. Did you notice that she has no peer reviewed research and no clinical experience - except for what she did while working while in college.

I can't wait to watch the rest.

i am shocked that an expert would simply examine only the literature given to her by the organisation she was defending and simply accept it.

also the ease she has in making huge sweeping statements when comparing the jw's to all other international religious organisations simply undermines her professionalism.. i am also thoroughly shocked at her blatant, 'expert for hire', 'will defend anyone' apparent decision making, the organisation is responsible for covering up thousands of abuse victims by its own records, in australia alone!

never mind their judicial process being heartless and traumatic!.

If this is the best the Wt can come up with as an expert witness to support their strategy they have BIG problems. Like some one said, I hope she got paid up front.

i felt it might be a good idea to post this so that sitting on the fence jw's or jw lurkers can see that this australia jw child abuse news of 1,006 jw child molesters not being reported to police by elders is a reality that has hit mainstream news media.

The one thing that I found astounding from the video is that tis Royal Commission session is going to go on for 2 weeks. I look forward to many comments. Some comments so far have been shocking - I am sure we will not be disappointed with what is to come.

Horrible Bosses

i just heard this a few minutes ago by a jw friend who is still an elder in my old hall.

the kingdom hall i used to attend and my mom still attends was paid off many years ago and serves about 6 congregations.

one of the english congregations has a lot of financially well of members.

this is utterly ridiculous.... .

the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.

it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

Maybe Jesus found raw chicken being stored above an uncovered pot of soup in 1918, but when he came back in 1919, all was well?

I am sure someone can find a scripture to support your theory.

If this was supposed to be funny, it worked - I laughed. Not hard, but I laughed. If it wasn't a laugh, it was at least chuckled. May be it wasn't quite a chuckle, but I did smile a little.

To Kill A Mockingbird and Prequel

are you a fan of harper lee's "to kill a mockingbird"?

i read the book as a child and have read it many times since.

miss lee obviously wrote the book to entertain us, and she accomplished that.

I purchased my Kindle version of the Watchman. Am about half way through. Forget for a minute the racism in the book, did you notice what she said about certified public accountants?

...Mr. Stone, except that he possessed all the necessary qualifications for a certified public accountant: He did not like people, he was quick with numbers, he had no sense of humor, and he was a butt-head.

As a CPA, I am highly offended.
