the best conjecture seems to be that the gb are going to drop the literal 144,000 teaching, especially in view of the december watchtower that pointedly does not mention the 144,000 number.
if they are dropping the literal 144,000 number, but still claim that only a small number are anointed, and can partake, and that only a few are left on earth, then it is fair to ask what has really changed?
they are simply clearing up the embarrassing situation that there were obviously more than 144,000 "anointed" believers from 36 ad until now, and that the number of partakers has been increasing in recent years.
Well, I hope it's something big, but I won't get my hopes up. I am sure the meeting will be all about how progressive the ORG is, and include lots of stories about foreign assignments. That's where the growth is after all. It will be love, love, the end is soon, ORG, ORG, GB/FDS loyalty, ect. I am sure they will toot their horns and ask for money too.

yes really stupid. the scriptural reasoning behind the no bday thing is flawed also. Because John happened to be beheaded on someones bday, seriously!! Servants of God were never mentioned as celebrating their birthdays so it must be wrong...lol. Funny judicial committee's aren't mentioned in the scriptures either but they do those.
just got back from meeting.
the study today was as expected.
a combination of simple acceptance, formulaic research and mistakes.. there are clearly many who cannot read a reference (to the wt 95) regarding the sheep and the goats and consider the repetition of the the understanding of the timing of the judging as new light.
It was as I expected, nobody gives a shit if anything changed. At least nobody voiced it out loud. Our congregation commenting support was as it normally is. I think ex jw's care about this more than jw's do.
i was at a amusement park here in calgary today.
my jw mother and my young brother came to visit for a week,so me and my sister thought it would a nice idea to take them to do something fun.
i guess they had a part of it called hallo street and my mom was getting all sketched out from all the halloween decorations around.

the local needs talk this week was about helping with the building project in warick new york.
the speaker said twice that project was for building the "world head quarters"!
then he added twice; that the "great tribulation" cannot start to after the "world head quarters" is built!

lol.. true but being an elder does afford you more experience with the whole process of being a JW as far as middle management goes. You are privy to certain types of experiences, judicial, etc. So I understand why he labels himself.

To be fair JWs don't ever actually say that only JWs will be able to live forever on earth. That being said it is HEAVILY implied.
Reasoning:
Only righteous will inherit the earth- to be righteous you must be in close association with God's spirit directed organization. They say that they are said organization. In fact when you are baptized as a JW you are baptized in the name of Jehovah, Jesus, and God's spirit directed organization.. lol WOW!
To be elegible for everlasting life you must be involved in righteous works- they say that based on scriptures that they are "spearheading" the preaching of god's kingdom today and no other religion does that. God's spirit directed organization is organizing this work today. Guess who..
I could go on and on but whats the point. They don't teach that only JWs will survive armageddon but they do. Go figure that one out.

i am a recently inactive jw (oh, how i regret getting baptized at 15).. my dad is an elder.
Your father is afraid to be deleted as an elder. If there are others on his body that have personal issues with him or don't like him they could use this as a reason. They can tell the CO that by associating with you and your man he is giving "tacit approval" to your "unchristian" course of conduct. He is not exemplary anymore and therefore must be deleted.
Elders love to throw that word around "exemplary" to qualify or disqualify someone. Yet ask them to explain to you what it means and they wont be able to. Its kind of an umbrella statement to cover non scriptural reasons. lol. so stupid.
it was announed at the sunday meeting 9/1/13 that all congregationswill be hearing the same local needs talk this week as sent by the wbts.. i would like to know if anyone has had their service meeting yet and what it was about..
They need more free labor because they can not afford to use any of the untold millions in real estate sales from the Brooklyn Heights properties to hire outside contractors. This is basically a "we need your free labor now, screw everything else" talk.
a few of my pet peeves were:.
the po/cobe knowing that he needed to have an elders meeting after the meeting but not telling any other elders.
humm, but his wife knew.
I haaated when the PO/CoBE Secretary and SO would met and make decisions and then tell the rest of the "body" they went ahead and made the decision.
I hated when people would talk about an issue before coming to the meeting and form an aliance to get there view across
This must be an issue on every single body of elders. lol
