aren't you glad somebody pointed out to you you were being lied to when you were a witness? It's no different now. You believers are very similar to the dubs. When someone points out the bibles lunacy and fallacies......you take it as an attack on you personally. Frankly......it gripes me arse that ex-witnesses are devoted to the bible as gods word to the point of feeling it's blasphamious to research it's authenticity.

Gumby absolutely. I am open to reviewing the bible, but one step at a time.

In the same manner billions of Muslims are STILL swallowing the bullshit drivel of Mohhamed who existed shortly after Jesus supposedly existed. In the same manner Buddah had/HAS billions of followers.

Do you actually have an intelligent opinion on this or are we to take your clearly emotionally influenced comments to mean that you are just angry with anything JW or Christian and you want the world (here on JWD anyway) to know it!

Dude we all were or are being hurt by the WTS doctrines and the type of attitude it encourages but its time to let it go. Keep it to yourself. At the risk of sounding cliche... "been there, done that" we know the WTS is wrong and we dont need your anger to remind us.

I am not sure what to think yet. I do believe Jesus is more than what the WTS says he is. I really do not know yet what I believe regarding his identity but the WT is definitely wrong to relegate him to simply an angel.

One thing that I think about is the fact that in John 1:1 Jesus is called "a god" by the NWT.. yet the bible specifically states that there is only one true god... in other words what is Jesus then, a false god???? We could go on and on and debate this until the cows come home. It was was already stated in the threads that it seems the bible supports both points of view. I was merely agreeing with some of the posters by saying that many so called christians, JW's included do not really imitate Jesus example. No he wasnt only just a model for us to follow... but he still was an example wasnt he? A model that many ignore IMHO. That was my point. I am open now to many opinions on who Jesus exactly is.

However I do not agree with the point that some say that he was ficticious and did not exist. The very fact that the calendar is modeled after him testifies to this fact. Besides how could a bunch of Jews living 1900 + years ago fabricate this man and start one of worlds largest religious movements... impossible if the man didnt exist I say.

Maybe people ("christians") should just forget it and start focusing on their so-called leaders TEACHINGS!

This is an issue I am sturggling with now and I am not sure but I agree with Amazing and the above statement. So many "christians" focus on doctrine instead of following the model christ left us. If anything, he was a wise man who gave very good advice on how to care for and show compassion to others.

Yup thats Carey Barber. I noticed he is gripping that sisters hand in the photo rather tightly... he was known to come out of his office in the 25 bldg when it was there when bethel tours passed especially one with females. He loved meeting my fiancee when she came for a visit. Dirty old man or just friendly.... you decide.

In sort of direct comparrison to the catholic's in choosing a new pope and the whole color of the smoke thing.

When deciding a new PO in the Cong. each elder takes turns shoving their nose up the CO's a**, the one that comes out the brownest, smelliest, and with a brown tongue as well then becomes PO. Additional points are awarded if some greenbacks are then shoved down the CO's tighty whities.

Note: the elders that dont choose to participate become the School Overseer or Secretary

DO THE GB GO DOOR TO DOOR

do the gb go door to door...i was just wondering with all their bethel work and convention running and globe trotting whether anyone has 'witnessed' (sic) them actually going from door to door..(studies dont count)

When my husband did temporary construction at Bethel (3 times in the early 90's)

While this isnt really "DOOR TO DOOR" I did see Sydlik and Shroeder on different occasions doing street work near the Fulton Mall in Brooklyn circa early 90's. Again not door to door but at the time I thought it was cool to see them actually go out and preach.

Now I could give a rats a**!

Name Things You Can Get Counseled,Reproved or Disfellowshipped For

since the jw religion is sooooo restrictive, it is good to think about just how wacky this cult is.....for example, you can get counseled for buying a 2 door car as opposed to a "pioneer" car (4 door).

You can be counseled for getting married too young. Funny how there are questions and/or concerns when say for example an 18 or 19 yr old couple dates and wants to get married. Yet when an 11 or 12 yr old wants to get baptized (supposedly "the most important decision of your life" more so than marriage), people celebrate! What is that about??!?!

Can be looked down upon for wife or you not pioneering if you both work and have no kids to support.

Can you be disfellowshipped for taking a yoga class?

i was just wondering since i've started taking a yoga class.

not that i would mind being df'd but not ready to lose the family.

i lost my wt library cd so i don't have access to the society's stand on yoga.

No info on this directly in the WT or Elders manual... however at a recent CO's meeting it was stated that the person would not qualify for privleges if they took a martial art, which is what I think the WT categorizes Yoga as sort of. They would also be warned to stop the practice but Blondie is correct, it would depend on what the body does. According to the WTS it could fall under the spiritism ruling so its a grey...leaning towards black area at best since the publisher doing it would not qualify for "special" prvileges.
