I'm with Beck Melbourne on this one. I wouldn't have any religious scruples about taking it, but I do consider it dangerous and believe that doctors are too quick to prescribe it. I have promised to honor my JW wife's desires not to receive blood, no matter what.

Would You Now Feel Uncomfortable Taking Blood?
by minimus innow that you know about the truth of the blood doctrine, would you feel, even a little bit uncomfortable agreeing to take a blood transfusion?
btw, my mother asked me if i would still honor her wishes for refusal of blood.
i told her that even though my view has changed, i would respect her decision, even if i felt that it was wrong.

Was the catholic church an Enemy of scripture?
by gumby indoes the print in bold type remind you guys of another organisation you can think of??????????
was the catholic church an avowed enemy of scripture
was it really fear of false doctrine that caused the church to object to the scriptures being in the hands of the laity?

Yerusalem
I would argue that the church was more than complicit in the persecution of Wyecliffe and Tynedale. The fact that the executions were carried out by civil authority appears to be a mere technicality. It was Archbishop Courtenay, with the sanction of the King, who took such stern measures against the followers of Wyecliffe, causing many to be burned as heretics. Tynedale was arrested by Roman Catholic authorities after leaving the free City of Antwerp and later strangled and burned.

It is not the Catholic church which is keeping the dead sea scrolls from being published. It is the territorial claims of the scholars involved, each wanting to keep the others from having access.

THE EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE
by Muslim inthe expansion of the universe .
the expansion of the universe is the most imposing discovery of modern science.
today it is a firmly established concept and the only debate centres around the way this is taking place.

Only time will tell
by kenpodragon inso many times when i was in field service, i would run across people who wanted to argue scripture.
some were pretty good, they knew their stuff and we would spend hours going over this point and that point.
it was some times, kind of educational on both sides, but more often then not ... it was a waste of two hours.

Well said Dragon! Living in the now is what it is all about. Focusing on the past and fearing for the future is the way that our ego self (Satan?) keeps us distracted from waking up to who and what we really are. Don't regret the time you spent, however. You apparently learned more than you realized at the time. The Holy Spirit is sneaky that way.

How Much to Reveal to JWs?
by patio34 ini just spoke to an old friend from the jws.
we live in separate states and she does not know that i have left.
i faked it okay, but if she thinks about it, she will sense the subtle differences and my not-so-deft switch of conversation away from jw-type things.

A Paradise Story! And Ruminations...
by SYN inyou know, everybody secretly has a nasty habit.
some people pick their noses and then lick their fingers, others keep small roosters in their bedrooms for purposes other than the creation of delicious chicken soup.
my nasty little habit is that i hang out on jw websites.

SS-Very logical! Where do I sign up? On the other hand, I think I will wait until Ghadafi is out of there before emigrating to Libya.

If there was no general prohibition against the scripture, why were those who began to publish the scripture in English burned at the stake? The catholic church was very much against the bible being in the hands of the common people.

I wonder how Enrico would like being in a supermarket line behind someone who is trying to negotiate the prices on a basketful of groceries. I used to be a checker in a supermarket before barcodes were invented. I was fast, but not nearly so fast as a modern checker with a bar code scanning device. When I wasn't checking, I was busy changing prices on shelf stock. What a pain! Now all they do to change prices is adjust the price in the central computer. Think of all the labor hours that saves. Makes for lower prices for everyone. The grocery business is the most competitive business in the world. Perhaps Enrico is not playing the game with a full deck.

I've had some similar questions about how paradise (as envisioned by the WT) would work as well, especially vegetarian lions and tigers. And what would we eat?
