Oct. 15th WT - Who Should be your Friend to Associate & Recreate With ?
by flipper inwith many of us here on jwn in a fading state trying to stay halfway connected to jw relatives - i thought it would be informative and helpful to know what the wt society is telling jehovah's witnesses about who or who should not be their close friends.
so if you experience even more shunning than normal - this article may be influencing some jw's to do this.
you won't find any new information here- but the wt society is definitely trying to control who witnesses hang out with.. in the article " is your recreation beneficial " ?

How Did You Get Rid of Your Bound Volumes?
by Eiben Scrood inmy town will no longer collect old books like that as trash and they're pretty hard to burn.
my solution has been to include one in every bag of used cat litter when i clean the cat boxes.
i've gotten rid of around 30 that way and i'm about halfway there.

Maybe they were afraid you went into the bound volumes and changed some things ... back to what the society originally wrote!

I left them with my ex-wife, that and a large supply of Kool-aid! It helps to wash down things that are hard to swallow!

Are you an "apostate"?
by cedars ini'm quite new to this site, and i've noticed that many of you are more than happy to call yourselves "apostates", even though many of you evidently believe in the bible and in jesus as saviour, etc.. i'm aware that the society brands anyone who disagrees with them as being an "apostate", but just because they choose to do this, does this mean we should be comfortable with being so branded?
should we "bend over" and take it?.
here is what the insight book says on apostasy:.

Cedars,
Adding to what PunkofNice in particular said, as well as others, the WTBTS deliberately confuses and confounds the basic meaning of the word "apostate." They do this for a couple of reasons, reasons which are manipulative by design and are the stock-in-trade "Mind-Control" techniques typical of high-control cults.
They need to DEMONIZE those that disagree with them and also to trigger "THOUGHT-STOPPING" in the minds of the JW faithful in order to prevent them from actually thinking about the validity of:
- Their (mis-)application of the term, and
- The scriptural-ness of their treatment of so-called "apostates"
As you realize, most labelled as "apostates" by the WT are not technically guilty of apostasy. For example, it is a gross overstatement to say that a person guilty of sexual sins has rebelled against God. (Compare Jesus response to the woman allegedly "caught at adultery" as recorded at John 8:1-11). But the WT doesn't care about that. They want control. Sorry, they want CONTROL!
They can't have any one questioning anything about their leadership or creating dissension amongst the Rank and File.
If you're not familiar with the Walsh Trail, you might find it enlightening. In this 1954 trial in Scotland, as unbelievable as it might seem, Fred Franz admitted under oath in open court that organizational "unity" was more important than truth and JW members could and would be disfellowshipped for not believing an acknowledged false prophecy.

How To Leave Jehovah's Witnesses Easily and Painlessly
by Daniel Metz ini have just thought of a way to leave jehovah's witnesses using information from the new shepherd the flock of god book.
it's quite simply: rebaptism.
here are the steps:.

Ok, so I came upon this post only today. I'm confused!?!?!?
First Mr. Metz suggests a plan to "Easily and Painlessly" leave JWs, kind of a "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" but with less steps.
Then by page three he writes this massive missive defending the WTBTS.
What the heck gives?
Oh, I get it: Flip-flopping New Light!

Also, no pain, no gain!

WT Society Alters their History as " The Party " did in George Orwell's 1984
by flipper infinally my wife and i got around to reading george orwell's " 1984 " .
as many of you know who have read the book that " the party " or " big brother " as the ruling power in the book is called ; constantly changes records of it's past dealings so as to deceive the public about any false forecasts they may have mistakenly made ; in an effort to put forth a positive image of itself it destroys past embarrassing records or paperwork which would expose the " party " as a failure.
much the way the wt society has altered their history to deceive the public and their own members.. notice this quote from george orwell's " 1984 " on pg.

WHAT DOES THE WATCHTOWER Really TEACH?
by 00DAD inwhat does the watchtower really teach?
i have been developing a list of wt doctrines/beliefs that are plainly in opposition to clear, simple scriptural teachings/ideas.
these could be used to clarify important questions and address key topics for discussion.

sizemik--in commenting on the INSEPARABLE nature of WT hate--asked rhetorically if this does not imply, "Overtones of everlasting judgement here??"
I'd say a qualified YES! Which is tantamount to saying such undefined "badness" no matter what it is, is essentially equivalent to "the Unforgivable Sin".
Unless of course a person grovels back to the WT bORGanization and re-submits to their capricious will.
Amazing isn't it! The FDS and their GB through the local BOE can forgive the unforgivable and separate that which is inseparable. This is marvelous in our eyes!

james_woods asked, "So then, it would be Biblical to hate Hitler, but unbiblical to hate Michael Bolton?"
Yes, because--evidently--their lives did not overlap!
