it has now been over two years since i was df'd.
in that time i have had limited contact with my 17 year old son, the younger, and almost no contact with my 20 year old.
the older boy was baptized 5 years ago and sadly the younger just recently took the plunge into the "pool-aid".
Thanks to all that have contributed to this thread. As you might know, I couldn't post the last two days so I have not been able to comment or respond to all the great suggestions and ideas. Some I am already doing so it's good feedback, but others I might not ever have thought of on my own, so I am glad I asked.

in the catholic church, the pope is considered "infallible" when he speaks ex cathedra.

Don't feel bad about missing it. You have just heard, "Soon, shortly, Imminent, "this world's days are numbered", "fast approaching", "at the threshold", " rapidly approaching ", "drawing near" … etc. " SO MANY TIMES THEY HAVE COMPLETELY LOST ANY MEANING!

when i was still serving as an elder in the late summer of 2006 in a congregation of jws in socal we received a letter from the "christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses" (read: the governing body) directing that anyone pursuing a higher education would be disqualified from privileges of service: elder, servant, pioneer, etc.
i remember this quite distinctly because i had just received by ba in education in june a few months before this.
in 2002, i had decided to pursue a degree under the society's then current "it's a personal decision" policy and was quite shocked at their drastic policy change.
That or that a particular NEW letter is to replace an OLD letter which should be .... you guessed it: DESTROYED!
this morning i took my dog who is a therapy dog over to the hospital and visited with several patients.
it is quite an experience, and it really helps people undergoing medical treatment to calm down and relax.. my wife was one of those patients, she is undergoing some tests before getting her gall bladder removed which will probably be sometime tomorrow.. afterwards i took the dog home, cleaned her up, and changed my clothes.
since i was alone i drove over to panara to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, several of the nurses told me that they are pretty good.

That's an easy question! They NEVER speak for God. Just look at their track record. Duh!

It's interesting that the "Situation" given states, "The daughter of an elder studies at university far from home with the goal of earning a lot of money."
This is clearly WT-code loaded-language to scream, "She's materialistic!"
But a little critical thinking exposes that flaw: What is "a lot of money"? Notice it doesn't say, "to make a decent living" or to develop her natural talents and gifts. Notice also that, unlike the first "Situation" the second doesn't even mention what her field of study is.
