Even if the administration had not lied it's way into a war of choice in Iraq in the first place, we should be engaged in dialog with Iran and Syria.
I knew Mark would agree with me. Now, how did I know that?
do you find that the president is still out in left field after today's news conference with blair and himself?
i can't believe after what they have been handed they continue to exact rules before they sit down and talk to everyone in the region.. what happened to "keep your friends close but your enemies closer?
" something has to change and it isn't just troop levels.

this is for the us crowd, what state do you live in?
or from?----i live in tennessee, but from ohio and kentucky.
Washington, Seattle area, since I was 4 years old.
as i mentioned before in another thread, my dub aunt, along with several other witnesses, told me that they were specifically told that the governing body let it be known that tract work would trigger the beginning of the end by infuriating the other religions and somehow causing the governments to "turn on babylon the great".
this was supposed to start before the end of this year.
one thing i mentioned is that they were smart enough this time, not to put anything down in writing, but simply let it get around by "word of mouth".
The first tract campaign I remember participating in was back in about 1972 or 1973. When they explained it at the District Convention, we had just had the Joshua drama about the march around Jericho. The speaker said the tract was going to be like the first march around the city of Jericho.
Naturally we all assumed that we would have 7 tracts over the years and then the end would come.
No such luck. It was sure hyped though. We were all so excited.
When we got our tract this year, I left it on the counter in the kitchen for a few days and the threw it away. Neither of us ever opened it. and definitely didn't read it. I think most people immediately put it in the trash.
I asked my JW friend what it was about, and she said "who reads those things?"
many of you know that my cousin and best friend, sharon, died in september 2001 at age 59, after a 3 year battle with breast cancer.. now, another of our cousins (she is 56, the same age sharon was at her diagnosis) has breast cancer on both sides.
she had surgery a week ago, and just learned she has to have more.
it's still good news.

It's still good news. She discovered it very early so they only did lumpectomies, and she doesn't have to have chemo therapy. They found more in her MRI, so have to do a little more extracting.
It's so frightening to me, but I went for my checkups last week, and all seems to be well. My doctor told me the genetic marker passes from mother to daughter, not son to daughter. Both of my cousins are daughters of my Dad's sisters. So.........if their cancer is from a gene, I probably don't have it. No one in my mother's family has ever had cancer of any kind. Whew! I'm 61 so that seems to be good too.
Results on the mammogram are not in yet, but my doctor said she was sure it would be normal.
Just sharing.
It is my opinion that if they ever change their views on whole blood transfusions, they would face a mass exodus.
Coming from a family who lost a beloved family member and her baby, to the "no blood" doctrine, it would hurt a lot to think they both died for nothing. I realize it's all crap, but for the remaining JW family members, I think it would be the last straw for them.
I know many others who are in the same situation, and are looked on somewhat as martyrs, for taking a strong stand on the blood issue. If that went away, they would flounder. Not to mention those who were disfellowshipped, and lost their families for taking blood.
Just my opinion.

I am very much supportive of communication to solve any problem, no matter who the problem is with, or what the problem is.
I think it is insanity to not talk to Iran and Syria. I can't understand their reasoning.
i wonder why christmas decorations only are strung out all over in the white house.
this country has all kinds of religions.
why do they cater to the "christian" religions?.
I should have known that Blondie would have the answer.
I assumed it was this: (as another poster said)
I think because the guy who lives there is a Christian he would probably do Christmas.
And.............until fairly recently, this country was predominantly Christian. It probably still is, but there are so many more that have gained prominence and recognition in recent years.
ive just collected my 6 year old son from school.
he sat in the back of the car and told me about a little girl from the year above him who has to leave her classroom and sit in his due to christmassy things going on.
my youngster remarked "she doesnt believe in christmas.
I always wanted to celebrate Christmas as a kid..My mom told me: "Look at those poor children, they only get presents once a year.Jehovah`s Witness`s can give presents all year round."..She still talks like an idiot..LOL!!...OUTLAW
I heard that my whole life too, but in my house it was actually true. My mother always took me shopping the day after Christmas to buy me new clothes and a toy or two, so that when I went back to school, I had new things too. She made a real effort to help me not to feel too different.
I also got lots of presents all year long. Whenever I was invited to a birthday party that I couldn't go to, there was always a gift on my bed when I got home from school, so I didn't feel so left out.
In 7th, 8th and 9th grade, I played in the school orchestra and always played in the holiday concerts at school. The evening performances for parents weren't always possible for me. Usually they were on a meeting night, but my teacher was nice about it and gave me an "A" for the performance anyway. Interestingly, my father always argued with my mother about that and thought I should be allowed to play, and skip the meeting.

My parents became JW's when I was 4 but I do remember Christmas, especially at my grandparent's house, and their huge tree. I remember ours too and Mom's Christmas village under the tree, and the bubble lights.
When we stopped celebrating I honestly thought it was because we "didn't believe in it anymore". I didn't see that it was wrong, only that we didn't believe.
I remember very clearly, when I was about 9, getting up on Christmas Eve, after everyone else had gone to bed and looking out the window over the city (we lived in a house on a hill overlooking the city of Seattle) to see if I could see Santa and his sleigh. I didn't stop believing in Santa. I just thought he didn't come to our house anymore
When I was in school, I honestly don't remember having a problem with holidays. I always did the holiday art work, but remember I was in grade school in the 50's. I helped decorate for holidays, right through high school too. In sixth grade, I went to a small school that only had classrooms. No library or gym. My parent's both worked so I couldn't go home when there were holiday activities. When they had the Christmas party, I was there. They did a gift exchange and my teacher bought an extra gift so no one was left out, including me. I couldn't buy a gift, but I could get one.
My teachers and all my friends knew we didn't celebrate Christmas but it was okay. Nobody seemed to care or ridicule. Different times I guess.
In high school, we all had to write a report one year, about how we celebrated Christmas. I wrote about the origins of Christmas and that our family didn't celebrate. I got an "A".
i am writing a handbook for volunteers that will be volunteering in senior related areas.
one will be visiting seniors in convelescent hospitals and assisted living centers.. one will be visiting them at home bringing food, supplies, and doing home repairs.. for those of you who are seniors yourself can you tell me what your greatest needs have been?.
for those of you who work as nurses or cna's in these centers can you tell me what you would like to see volunteers do to help?.
Mulan- I can't believe an aid was even giving meds! That is so wrong. I don't even think that is legal in California, I have seen what you mean about them being treated like children.
I know. It is legal in Washington. One of my nieces is a CNA in Reno, and she said it isn't legal there either. I asked the State about it and they said it is classified as a "private home" so the aides can dispense meds in bubble packs only.
