by Black Man inso, i'd love to start some threads debunking biblical miracles as the fairytale fiction that they are.
the first i'd like to start off with is jehovah supposedly making the sun stand still to allow joshua's army enough daylight to conquer the amorites.

Why do women allow themselves to be treated the way they do?.. quote of Timothy 2;11 is the first that comes to mind...From a religious context and the effect it had on society for 1000s of years,.... blame the people who wrote the bible and what they ultimately thought of women. Men are terrified of loosing control and the base evolutionary reason for male dominating thier spouse / partner is protection of family and passing "his" genes on. The same is reflected in other species in nature however this is specific to evolution and survival. In reality the female will choose the best mate for mating.
There are no goddesses in the Judeo/Christian religions only an all powerful MALE figure to be worshipped without question. No women or female forces to worship unlike the Polytheistic cultures that came before the one god idea...All that was destroyed or oppressed.
Women have never had it so good in this society and it is because they have struggled to get at least equal status. This is not the responsibilty of the churches but rather humanity divorcing itself from Christian beliefs.
Historically we have only really started to progress in humanity with human rights, equality and free thinking in the last 10 decades, thats 100 years or so...... that is not many generations compared to how long the scriptures have been enforced. Modern churches just want to retard the advancement of humanity by using worn out and poorly applied dogma that has hindered rather than helped. Again Timothy 2:11 explains what women should do... I find Ironic,...... women teach males when they are at their most vulnerable, from birth they are taught the most basics.
The Christian / Jewish and Muslim churches have kept women in thier place for 1000s of years and before that they we still treated not equally. I find it obserd that my wife who is a newbie at the Kingdom Hall is quite prepared to accept that she is lower than a man (although in practice she is still as arrogant as her mother). and I find it quite sickening that her firends tell me they are making my wife into a "better wife". There was nothing wrong with her in the first place I didn't ask for it or even allow it. I married my wife for her unique qualities which are now being erroded and supressed. We had an equal power base in our house, she makes decisions and so do I on different area of our lives.

by trailerfitter ini am not sure if you are aware of the proposals by pastor micheal stahl who wants to get a register of atheists started so they activities like boycotting their businesses can be engaged in.
i mensioned this to my jw wife who already who i am trying to show that the wt policies are just a nutty as other american religious influences however she just retored that this is the sign of the end because there is a war going on.
i cannot get through to her and everything goes back to her newly found belief being the only true one.

This phenomena of silly religious staements and ideas in our modern times all origionate in the USA and filters through to us here in Europe unfortunately.
What is it I need to show my beloved for her to realise that the JWs are no different? That we ( normal people) are not influenced by Satan. Please don't say join the JWs.......

"Hobo Witness"

i had never heard that one.. as some of you already know, i'm fading and the wifey is not awake very asleep, but the kids are in the middle.
anyway, my daughter was bothered by his name calling- and on one hand i wanted to go down there and tear his little puny head off for calling my daughter names, but on the other hand i wanted to laugh...is that bad?.

well, then, logically, if that scripture buttresses the glorious new light - and we know how long that "generation" was - we should be able to calculate the date for armageddon, no?.
allowing for a maximum period starting with the year of the birth of the eldest brother (reuben if i'm not mistaken), and ending with the year of the death of the youngest (benjamin, correct?

Feeding of the 5 thousand is a bit much of a claim,....getting back on track. I do not know how Jesus hid the Juggernauts that brought all that food to him. Imagine the time it actuallt took too to manually break each bit of bread too?....would have needed the sun to stand still on that day too just for jesus to have completed that task. 5000 people wow work it out. big long queue, a lot of crumbs sore hands from all that work.

Interesting debunking and from Raypublisher a predictable JW answer.
If god was that so omnipotent and could actually manipulate the world in such a way then he would not need to do the horrid things he did in the bible. The bible itself wouldn't need to be written because it would have been created in a way by the creator that it would only need to be touched and be understood fully,.... the presence of god. However jehovah, who is actually hard to find in anything other that written texts had to use a woman to give birth to a to a guy down here to spread his word in only a small area of the world, when the message could have happened simultaniously on ever contiinent of the world so the message would have actually had an impact..
The threat of inillation for sinners by god at the end of the system of things is a bit shakey too. If god ( that is a small g) has to resort to violence on a scale that mankind has never seen killing a large portion of the population but could actually manipulate atoms on a sub atomic level then it would be much easier to do something much nicer over a longer period of time like make sinners sterile.
He would also be able to determine much more in history.

i suspect from this being in the public edition, they are getting flack at the doors for this...the internet is a huge research and awareness problem for them no doubt.. thanks oz.

Odd bunch the JWs and I hope we do not get around to the origional question of this post with my wife. If that sort of activity stops then I am going to be very unhappy. I do not want the WT reading a rule book in our bedroom.
The bible has incest rife in its pages from A&A Lots seduction and Noah which we all agree in this society is just not right so why would J.C. tell us to not look at a woman with passion...perhaps her meant just your sister mother and cousins?

The WT plaquards said this when the bible students were campaigning all over the states at the start of the 29th century. I have see this bragging on DVDs that the Watchtower distribute. If you are an atheist you will obviously say that it is true the ALL are the same. If an organisation on the other hand is competing in an area for new members they will also say that other groups and churches are run by Satan or not preaching the true word etc etc. It is called AD HOMINEN which puts down other without arousing suspiciion about their own organisation.
I look at it as the same way political parties campaign and we have this sort of thing in the United Kingdom. they put other parties down and say how wonderful they are but when you look at thier history the gruesome truth is really seen. The WATCHTOWER is not gods appointed organisation to spread spiritual food at the correct time as they claim. They area just a bunch of Christians who think they are better than any other group and think they have the right to say that they are the only true religion. Incidently by saying this I checked how credible they were.....
