  How Many IN, OUT, etc.

  i'm wondering how many here are "active jws," "inactive jws," "x-jws," or "never jws.".

  i don't mean to be nosy.

  i'm just wondering how many are in a situation like mine (still in, but struggling).

  Red Dwarf and the 'Tower

  i've always been fascinated by the parallel between the concept of holograms on the tv show red dwarf, and the jws' view of the resurrection.

  on red dwarf, a crew member has all their thoughts, knowledge and personality recorded by the ship's computers, so that if they die on the trip, a hologram of that crew member can be generated by the ship so that that crew member's knowledge and experience aren't lost.

  this reminds me an awful lot of the 'tower's concept of resurrection.

  what about the biblical truths explined by the witnesses?

  yes there are many things wrong with the organisation, but they did get a lot right - trinity, hell etc etc is anyone grateful for some of the teachings they received whilst being a witness?.

  WTS says 215 years - Bible says 430 - Which?

  215 years or 430 years?

  the july 15th wt study some have been talking about (not sure of which issue of the wt is involved) was quoted as saying this, "when the israelites headed for freedom after spending 215 years in egypt, much of that time in slavery, a vast mixed company also went up with them.

  (exodus 12:38) ".

  Toronto Gathering - A great time!!!

  i thought for sure that someone else would have posted something here.. we had a great turn out and there wasn't a bethel spy to be seen, well except for me but we got that figured out fast enough.

  thanks to peter for organizing us and for the great suggestion for an eatery.. what an interesting cross section of people.

  from those in their early 20's to those in their ummmm continuing holding pattern of 29!!

  i believe you actually will find a WT reference that says they may have been a ruse on lot's part to buy time. i know because i have the hospitality talk which spends a bit of time on lots story, especially the older version of the talk.

  i had to find a way to explain this satisfactorily to myself and researched it well. i used the idea that it may have been a ruse, pure speculation of course, we dont know but one thing is clear, i would emphasize, it was lot who was on the outside in danger, not his family.

  some said that they could finally kind of reconcile this thorny account from my talk.

  hi.. i've been a jw for 15 years, have pioneered, been where the need is great, etc.

  up until a couple of years ago, i was considered strong in the truth.

  but then i had my first and only episode of major depression.

  being in a similar situation, i would also recommend that you try opening up to your husband and, if you can be comfortable with it, your therapist as well. you will find much support from people here but it is no substitute for what you can get from the people you truly know you.

  today's history lesson .... fred franz discredited a "governing body".

  the last page of the february 1, 1976, watchtower, was devoted to a notification entitled "governing body adjustments.

  and so that's what happened with philip, how he became an evangelizer.

  whats interesting about this is that the explanation here given for acts 15 makes a lot more sense than the current understanding, needed so desperately to support the GB arrangement.

  Memorial Attendance Figures 2001

  at the dc this weekend, they released memorial attendance figures for the us.

  funny thing.

  2001 2, 163, 602 (announced at dc, if i wrote tham down correctly).

  theres no point trying to get much out of memorial attendance figures for 2 consecutive years. those figures fluctuate wildly from year to year, i would guess due to which day of the week it lands on, how convenient it is for visitors to drop by.
