The program was amazing! Having gone through this scenario in '73 with the Elders and '81-82 with a trial, this brought back a ton of memories.
I believe this will make a difference! Silent lambs no more! Survivors will triumph!

THANKS SIMON
by You Know ini just wanted to take a moment and thank you for providing this forum.
of course, i realize that it's intended purpose is to serve as a stumbling block for jehovah's witnesses, yet at the same time it also serves as a platform for me to defend my faith in a public forum.
over the years i have appreciated the opportunity provided by this and other forums to confront and refute various challenges that apostates have presented to our precious faith.

Guess I'm one of the 1% who's not apostate (I'm not pro-state either)but victory? Can we mere mortals declare victory? Isn't that for your "leader" to declare?

Mixed thoughts re: Silentlambs group
by Pathofthorns ina person has to be a bit nieve to think that if the wt suddenly gave into all of the demands of silentlambs that silentlambs would somehow cease to exist and or let up their pressure on the society.. i think there is a broader agenda here, one that includes a measure of revenge against the wt and one that won't stop until they are out of business.
no child is truely protected or safe when they are raised in a cult.
a logical extention of silentlambs would be expanding their agenda to include the blood issue and children.. it is this obvious broader agenda the silentlambs group has that invites criticism from active witnesses.

Holy misplaced anger. Yikes! Way too personal attack. Punch me? My father punched me because I wouldn't get on my knees for Jesus. A stranger punched me because I walked by a gay bar. I am truly sorry I upset you, but I'm not putting on a dimmer switch just yet.
I am also sorry that I contributed to this thread and I agree with Chi Chi Mama. There are more positive things to think about today...
ie. the Dateline episode.
ie. It's a sunny day here in Ontario, Canada.
ie. I live in a continent where we have freedom of speech. -

I was referring to this: If the work of Silent Lambs creates a warning signal in the mind of just one person, who might be persuaded to join the Watchtower cult, then they have served a valuable purpose. IF WHAT EACH OF US SAYS IN THIS FORUM, INFLUENCES JUST ONE PERSON NOT TO RUIN THEIR LIVES BY BECOING A WATCHTOWER SLAVE THEN WE WILL HAVE DONE OUR GOOD DEED FOR THE DAY.
I'm pretty good with English, and that last line was referring to this forum.
I wouldn't leave because of "a" post. My god, yours was lamblike in comparison to some of them here!
I wasn't attacking you and I didn't think you were attacking me. My point was that if Simon's web site's agenda is synonomous with your above quoted last line, then I'm out of here.
I know it isn't and I also know not everyone who posts here is "out to get" the Witnesses.
PS. The door did nick me but a little pain never hurt anyone. -

drrahcir yarrum's post is an example of what I mean. I have no such agenda whatsoever. I respect his/her right to express himself, his agenda, but hell if he or anyone else is going to establish or decide on mine!
Ps. If this web site is ONLY as he puts it, a "group wishing to call attention to the lies and inconsistencies of the organization" I'm permanently out of here!

Some great points are being raised throughout this thread.
I have found that every single organization or structured group that I have "visited" since I left the Witnesses in the 80s, has not only had an agenda, but members of such groups are expected to talk that party line. I resist this everytime but have come to the realization that sort of defines the nature of the beast.
No one is going to make me say what I don't want to say anymore. So, what I will say about Silentlambs is this. Imagine one victim who has never discussed their abuse with anyone --they are a Jehovah's Witness right now-- and they go to the SILENT LAMBS site and read THE STORIES, THE EXPERIENCES, of other victims, and they realize they are not alone, not to blame, THAT THEY ARE NORMAL, it's their ABUSER WHO IS NOT. That I would say is a worthwhile result of this particular group. I don't need to agree with their agenda to realize this group's existance is accomplishing something good.

How Many Silent Lambs Do you Know?
by Cassiline ini thought it would be interesting if we started count here on this board.
please list how many you know personally, then add from the previous results, to keep a running tally.
i realize it wont be an accurate count but perhaps an estimate of those that we know or are aquatinted with.. i'll start.. 3 +.

I've lost count, but I can tell you one thing. I know more silent lambs than I now vocal lambs. Hopefully that will soon be a thing of the past!

Alicia, I am with you 100%. Time for a reality check. I think one of the worst post traumatic experiences for victims (other than a possible trial) is sitting in front of 3 men who know diddly squat about trauma. For female victims, any 3 women in the world would be better than 3 men. That seems like a no-brainer. Probably one of the top 5 worst experiences of my life. Just know you are not alone and that your feelings and instincts are dead on.

Redhorsewoman, Oh my god, What an excellent comparison. I remember in the 70s Witness fornicators were considered filthy perverted souls. And my father, the abuser? The Elders said, "He is still your father and head of the house. You must sit with him at the back of the hall [after his disfellowshipping]" God, I wish I had the Linda Blair vomit connection for that meeting!
And KPL, my heart goes out to you. We are "sisters" in spirt. I supposedly disassociated myself. But probably 8 years before that, this Witness said to my mother (we were at a play), "Can I say hi to him?" All I did was stop going to meetings. I wasn't perverted yet!
I do not acknowledge their disfellowshipping/disassociating whatsover. If someone is an asshole, I avoid them. And if they step over the line in my face, I have no problem telling them what I really think. I don't need some organization telling me who are the assholes and who aren't! -

Thank you for posting this Randy!
"I mean, it was in some New England journal, somewhere"
That just cracked me up...so unprofessional, amateurish! But this gave me such a flashback...21 years ago, I first thought of the idea of charging my molester. Witnesses were like, Why would you want to do a thing like that? (It had been this big elephant that so many knew about, but ignored.) Are you out for revenge? We don't use the worldly system for justice. Put it behind you, trust in Jehovah. Why would you go to a worldly therapist when the Elders are right here willing to help?
And so on, and so on... Just ridiculous nonsense. Unfortunately when you grow up a Witness, you think these are normal responses, that they're probably right and when you act independently, you are working with the Devil.
How ludicrous...my siblings and I were molested for years because of this logic!
