  Congregational "Get-Togethers"

  as you may have guessed, there's a get-together this week for our cong.

  (well, mostly the younger generation).

  As you may have guessed, there's a get-together this week for our cong. (well, mostly the younger generation). It's basically going to be about playing games, sports, etc. Now, I haven't went to the hall for about 3 weeks now, and my ... friend... who invited me on the phone hasn't seen me for that amount of time as well. Since the decision that I took not to go to the hall has to do with me not wanting to be a hypocrite (putting efforts into going to a reunion = JW faith) I decided to go to this little get-together.

  This has to do with several points... first, I feel like seeing my friend again, even though his beliefs are different. This would show how I'm not avoiding him, I'm avoiding the borg. Second, if they were to ask questions about my lack of faith, I could, theoretically answer them. Of course, in a get-together setting, this would be difficult.

  So, even though I always HATED sports, I'm going to make a special effort to go this time, since the context is completely different. I'm no longer a hall-attending publisher, so therefore my being there is special in its own self. (I wonder how the parents will view me?)

  So that's it... I'm also going to make a special effort not to call anyone "Brother" or "sister"... showing a definite change on my part...

  P.S. On another subject, a "sister" told me yesterday the cong missed my excellent talks. Surprised, I let out a nonsequential sound "Oh." Oh well... She's a sweet sister, so saying "Well, I don't want to be a hypocrite" would be kinda mean. Guess my reputation is still good, despite my change of beliefs. Too bad only my family knows how far my beliefs changed!

  i heard on the tv line up that datelines story for tonight is a relogions tolerance of child abuse.

  i think it is on at 9 central.. amy

  I don't want to be a party pooper or anything, but I checked the dateline site, and no mention is made of the program... well, of course it could be broadcasted... The only mention of tonight's programming is:

  gossip is nothing new... we hear it everywhere, at work, with friends, even on this message board.

  it's nothing special, and it will stay with humanity for a long, long time, if not forever.. however, if one claims to be in god's only organization on earth, part of god's plan for a *paradise earth*, then one must therefore be free of such *petty* things as gossip.

  at least that's what the gb says, right?.

  Uh, fred, i know they love me... and it's reciprocal. That's obvious, ain't it? That's not the point. They're out preaching standards like true christian love, but they're talking in other people's backs. Like all of us do.
