I don't know what the rules are over there.
Do Christians really need a set of rules to protect children?
Apparently Jehovah's Witnesses do.
has anybody confronted any jws with the royal commission reports on the news yet?
i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.
I don't know what the rules are over there.

Apparently Jehovah's Witnesses do.
i have just finished listening to this man jackson.
i remember him well.
he is twisting things around as much as he is allowed.
That whole "You wouldn't want to bring reproach on Jehovah's name, would you?" line is becoming more and more obvious as nothing more than a convenient ploy used by elders to keep things secret.
I often think of the David and Bathsheba affair, which resulted in many bad things, including death, but did Jehovah try to hide the scandal to protect his name? No. Instead he had it put in the Bible (so JWs believe) for all to read.
What Jehovah's Witnesses are really trying to protect with such a remark is their own reputation and public image, which is becoming more tarnished all the time.

Dino is an idiot dinosaur with a very poor memory.
If you are an elder and hear report of a child having been sexually abused by her father 'for a long time', how can you possibly forget the details or the person who told you about it?
I've listened to 3 elders testify, one being an ex-CO and ex-DO, and when asked specific questions about a sexual abuse victim in the congregation, a case they were in charge of, their testimony is riddled with 'I don't recall' and 'I can't remember' type remarks.
One would get the impression from their testimony that Jehovah's Witness elders have the worst memories of anybody on the face of the earth.
What they actually have are convenient memories. One thing they never forget is to use the Theocratic War Strategy, which is Watchtower's teaching that says they can lie to anybody who is not entitled to know the truth in their judgement. All is fair in Theocratic Warfare, including lying to investigators, judges, and other officials.
the royal commission hearing starting on monday, july 27, 2015 - australian day and date - (and it could go on until august 7th depending on how many witnesses testify) regarding jehovah's witnesses handling of child abuse is supposed to be streamed.. it could be that the hearing will only be audio not video although we were informed it will be streamed.
we'll find out in a few hours.. i live in the central time zone of the us and right now here it is sunday, 3: 45 pm.
in sydney, australia, it is 15 hours ahead of us.
Max Horley slipped ... he used the words "keep it under wraps" when he was talking about why the victim was told not to talk about the abuse to others. He cringed when those words slipped out.
You could tell that he wanted to take those words back as soon as they slipped out. His facial expression and body language said it all!
That kind of language is supposed to be internal, said only among other elders, but it came right out of his mouth and am I glad it did!
Yes, Photoshop
Thats why its in the Joke section
Oops, my bad. Didn't notice it was in the joke section.
It is funny, and probably a big reason for the big pushes to get more money from KH sales, donations, and raiding Cong bank accounts.
The Governing Body would have boxes just like that if they thought they could get away with it.

the report about child abuse and jehovah's witnesses is now live.. jehovah's witnesses handle child abuse cases.
jehovah's witnesses and child sexual abuse, the report - bbc radio 4 .
Slidin Fast: ...Stephen Lett. They really should keep him in a back room, just take him out every now and then for group photos and then put him away again.
Same for Anthony Morris III.
Thank goodness they are letting these fanatical men speak publicly. It's bad for Watchtower but good for everyone else. Go Watchtower TV!
several threads on here about the excellent bbc r4 programme this week ('the report') focussing on rape and abuse in barry, south wales, jws.
fat pervert mark sewell later got 14 years and i hope he is enjoying every minute of it.. the courageous ladies who spoke on the programme were articulate, reasonable and made a tremendous impression.. the quote in the thread title made an impression on me, and i hope, on all listeners.. forget religious, theological, 'biblical' issues and cut to the basics.
a rape victim was asked to demonstrate - to demonstrate, ffs - to three unqualified (middle-aged at least, presumably) men just how far her legs were apart when she was raped.. i have rarely heard anything so outrageous, and i used to investigate rape and abuse in my profession.
This is a good topic, and I say Yes, bring the elders into the light, expose them, and let them answer for themselves, and let Watchtower answer for itself, if they can.
For either a girl or a young woman to be questioned by 3 older men about a sexual assault has to be a traumatic experience for her. To be asked graphic questions about the lurid details embarrasses and humiliates the victim further, and adds more damage to the rape.
As to the "how far apart were your legs" question, I think the elders ask questions like that to try to determine if the girl/woman was really raped. These elders are looking for an angle to say the girl was complicit in what happened, to reach the conclusion that 'You must have asked for it.' They were looking for a way to blame the victim.
The BBC report was outstanding, and that is exactly the kind of exposure Jehovah's Witnesses should have.
once a month about 15 to 20 elderly jw publishers would meet at the kingdom hall and one elder was assigned to set up the system so they could view jw broadcasting.
these publishers were long time pioneers, former elders, and long time publishers who know nothing about computers or the internet.
they are the last batch of those expecting the generation that saw 1914 or understood it--- to not die off.
ToesUp: ...maybe the Elders need to go on the internet and learn how to cook a turkey and a roast.
Oh, that is so funny! Thumbs up to ToesUp.
