hamsterbait,
They said Armageddy would come before the end of the 20th century ("Nations shall Know" book)
Do anyone know where it's found in that book?
ok, am i correct in saying that the fds never stated armegedon was coming in 75'?
however, they led everyone to believe it was coming in 75'?.
if the latter question is true, can you provide links to talks or articles that point to this?

i was shocked ( though i probably shouldn't have been ) when reading the new elders manual concerning whether elders have to confess up about former sins from a few years earlier.
notice this on pg.
38 , paragraph 19 : it states, " if it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past : the body of elders may determine he can continue to serve if the following is true : the immorality or other serious wrongdoing occured more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned.
I have the 2010 WT Library CD and the 1972 book "Orginization" is not on it.
There have been at least 3 different Organization books.
- Organization For Kingdom-Preaching And Disciple-Making (Copyright 1972)
- Organized To Accomplish Our Ministry (Copyright 1983 & 1989)
- Organized To Do Jehovah's Will (Copyright 2005)
The earliest one (1972) is the one that pertains to this thread.
I checked my 2009 Watchtower CD, and not even the latest one (2005) is on it. I have no idea why.

Is this information hypocritical on Watchtower's part, since it favors elders?
The Watchtower magazine says this,
"Jehovah is not pleased with acts of worship carried out by individuals who are concealing serious sins. On the contrary, such hypocrisy angers him." —Prov. 21:27; Isa. 1:11-16 (W 12-15-08 p11, par16)
Apparently “concealing serious sins” amounts to “hypocrisy that angers [Jehovah], unless you are an elder; then the rules change. Is Jehovah angered only at ordinary publishers, not elders, who do this. The Society seems to think so.
And Jehovah's Witnesses insist that Class Distinctions do not exist among them.

Here are some scans from the literature.
As mentioned by daringhart13, 1972 was a key year.
The Organization book (1972) said that if an elder committed a serious sin "some years ago," and it was found out, he should be removed.
The Kingdom Ministry, October 1972, explained that "some years ago" meant 2 or 3 years, although it was not an exact number. However, if the sin was committed 3 years ago or more, then the elder did not need to be removed.
How in the world they arrived at these numbers is anybody's guess.
"Organization For Kingdom-Preaching And Disciple-Making" (1972) p170, par2
"Kingdom Ministry", Oct 1972, Question Box p8
I'm not sure what was said on this topic between 1972 and 2010, but here it is in the latest Elder's Manual.
"Shepherd the Flock of God" p38 (2010 Elder's Manual)
Notice that "child abuse" would only "likely," not definitely disqualify him, for "many years," not permanently.
i've only very recently discovered this site and have been reading many compelling personal accounts and testimonials.
i'd like to share my own as well.. i was born into 'the truth' in the early 1970s.
along with my several (fleshly) brothers and sisters, i went through the usual travails of a witness boy - not celebrating birthdays, not pledging allegiance to the flag, not singing christmas carols in the class chorus.
Welcome Suraj!
It's nice to hear that the experiences related on this site have been beneficial to you.
Have you discovered other sites, perhaps ones that closely examine JW teachings, doctrines, etc? There are many, so if you need direction on something just mention it. People here are quick to give helpful direction to whatever questions you may have.
Congrats on your successful life since leaving the Watchtower!
...then what else should a jw parent forbid under the same rationale?
jehovah hates magic).
i started a mental list and it boggles the mind.
"Superman ok! he's Superman"
There is always a way to find fault. When you're the Watchtower, if you can't find it one way, you can find it another.
The Society has taught that Superman and other Super Heros, who are out to save people that are otherwise doomed, are nothing more than a substitue for Christ, the true Savior.

How about songs for children?
Puff the Magic Dragon.
is any of this true?
historian, historian, david icke states, "...it was the rothschilds who funded the jehovah's witness operation into being, along with other illuminati bankerz (ie, kuhn, loeb, and co.), through "contributionz" by organizationz like the rothschild-controlled b'nai b'rith.
this was proved in a court of law in 1922. one of the key people involved in this was frank goldman who later became president of b'nai b'rith.
Nambo said,
"Russell wrote an open letter to one of the Rothchilds" Any chance you could find that letter and post it here please? Found on pages 1342 and 1343 of Watchtower Reprints.
it seems that this sparlock video will only have an impact on jw's, but it does have an impact on those that never even associated.
i showed the video to a friend of mine, and shared the sensation that has grown out of it.
he actually had a dream about sparlock writing a letter to jehovah!
Dear Jehovah,
My name is Caleb. I would like to think with all the wise teachings i have learned that I have a good mind, and some knowledge. I have thought about my life as a witness so far and I am concerned about something. In reflection of my ten years in service to you I have been very obedient and loving. But it has dawned on me that the toy Sparlock that I threw in the trash to avoid making you sad, is bothering me.
As a child I need to have stimulation in my mind as to becoming a creative person. Sparlock is a toy, he only represents fantasy and fantasy helps a child develop in many ways. If a child does not have any sense of creativity, how would the car or plane ever been made? I am sure at many points in time that people thought that flying was crazy and ungodly, as would have been the thought of a machine to take us from this planet to the moon and beyond. In fact so many things that we have in our lives would not be here without the fertile minds of men, women and sometimes even children who were able to develop their creative minds.
Friends are also a concern of mine. Without the ability to have and interact with friends I cannot develop skills to become a part of my surrounding society. The reasoning behind this is to become a working member who can contribute to the society and workforce which keeps us alive. The thought of displeasing you makes me sad because if I displease you, I will lose all of my friends and family. I will become an outcast and be shunned. I believe in you Jehovah, but what I do not believe in are the men who make laws on your behalf to control others just to have them follow their own personal laws and reasoning.
These men use you as a weapon to become rulers of us all. They say that you will be sad, and that you would not like my simple toy, Sparlock, which they themselves created. Their minds have already thought of a warrior wizard and created a warrior wizard so as to once again try and use your name Jehovah to take my innocence away and make me their slave. Jehovah please show them their wrong doing so I may grow up a normal creative loving human and please do not be sad for those who use you and your name to take personal gain and control of your people.
lets forget about the creations of man, animals and.
light and darkness.
focus on the period when the earth.
@ Undercover who said,
Day 1 started, not with the actual creation of the earth and other heavenly bodies, but with the creataion of light. In other words JWs believe the earth was already here when the 7 Creative Days began, and those Creative Periods involved preparing the earth for plant, animal, and human life.
Too bad that doesn't jive with scripture:
Exodus 20:11
For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and he proceeded to rest on the seventh day. That is why Jehovah blessed the sabbath day and proceeded to make it sacred.
That is a good point, and it throws a wrench into the Society's thinking. Here is one more reference from the same Book that says the same thing.
(Exodus 31:17)
“Between me and the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite, because in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and proceeded to refresh himself.”
And if that isn't bad enough, one of the Watchtower writers even dropped the ball when this was written,
(W 7-15-76 p427, par5)
“The Bible indicates that Jehovah created the heavens and the earth in six days, each 7,000 years in length.”
That remark goes completely against what the Society (usually) teaches, that the heavens and earth can be billions of years old! It's a little flub makes me chuckle.
