  1974 Special Meetings

  as we all know, armageddon was just around the corner in 1974. at the district conventions that year, it was announced that there would be two special meetings during the month of september; one would be for interested people (e.g., bible studies, family members, inactive, etc.

  ), and the other would be for baptized publishers.

  these were to be held in place of the service meetings for the two weeks, iirc.

  A question on natural selection

  last friday my boy of ten was very late back from school, so i called the school, they called the police, and to cut a long horrible exsperience short he had been helping a younger boy fly his kite.. but what has occurred to me is that when orlando was 5 years old he was totally dependent on mummy and daddy, whilst horses, cats, birds and other animals are born and are independent within days.. so my question on natural selection is, how are we humuns still here?.

  Hi Rebel,

  Whilst watching a documentary on penguins, what struck me was the anxiety exhibited by parents and chicks when they were lost to each other.

  We lost our eldest daughter when she was 3 in a furniture store. Store was closed down. Staff and public searched frantically for nearly 45mins. I was traumatised and sinking into unconsciousness the longer this went on. Police were called because a little 5yr old girl missing in Edinburgh had just been found murdered that weekend. Daughter was found in a lounge setting sitting comfortably, swinging her legs, humming the tune to her favourite tv programme, staring at a blank tv screen. Waaaah!

  How did you feel when you found out "the truth about the truth"?

  so when you first found out specific facts about the organisation, how did you feel??.

  the un membership.

  the way 1914 was calculated from pyramid measurements.

  Stuck, I was devastated. I cried solidly for about 6 days. My DH was worried. I actually wanted to end it all. Thank goodness for the people on this forum. Words cannot express my gratitude.

  Karma kind of makes me smile.......am I bad?

  today at work one of the clients that came in for advice was an elder and his wife.

  they must be having issues they need help with.

  this elder was the elder that told us not to go to a domestic violence shelter or not to go to the police when my daughter got a black eye.. am i bad because i smiled inside that they are having problems?.

  I'm with you on that one. The German language has a fantastic word to describe the feeling one gets when people get their comeuppance - Shadenfreude (hope it's spelt correctly, or my autocorrect is getting a freakin' kicking).

  Overlapping Generation

  the september 2015 broadcast had david splane explain matthew 24:34 “truly, i say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”.

  his explanation of this scripture was by means of a chart to indicate an overlapping generation.. .

  no scripture was used to show the overlapping generation concept, and as a result it makes no sense.. to illustrate how crazy this concept is, look at the lyrics of the song my generation.. my generation.

  evening all, a few of you may remember my turmoil in leaving the wt well i'm happy to say i've finally moved on.

  we celebrated our daughters birthday for the first time ever with a few close friends and it was magical.
