Neanderthal man
by scary21 inmy ex husband and father of my daughter was never baptized but is still a believer in the wt.. a couple years ago we were talking about evolution ( which he does not believe in ) i brought up the subject of the neanderthals and how we all have their dna except africans ( the ones that never left africa ).
he said neanderthals are apes and not humans and jw's do not teach that they are humans.
i said i believe they do.. in the life- how did it get here book, under the sub heading " the human family "is says " neanderthal man....... was undoubtedly human.. his response was " they are just talking about what other people believe " ahhhhh .

This topic is a perfect example of science progressing with new information and how important it is to keep up if you truly want to know the answers. You won't keep up by reading magazines published by window cleaners for window cleaners. Speaking as an ex.....window cleaner :D ......Here is a quote from the UK natural history museum.

When the Neanderthal genome was compared with those of modern humans from different continents, it showed that modern populations from Europe, Asia and New Guinea shared more genetic information with Neanderthals than present-day Africans do, with around 2.5 per cent Neanderthal DNA in their genetic make-up.

As I was once a witness I have s perspective as to why the JW's get scientific information from the Watchtower's writers and not scientists. They dare not look and see themselves and lie inwardly that what they are being told must be true!.... Knowing full well it would be smarter to AT LEAST check the information out! When I eventually left I was gobsmacked at how much was simply untrue/misquoted/out dated/bias. I wished I had checked earlier because 90% is so deceitful it leaves you in NO doubt of the Watchtower's deceit.
But I find it interesting that those coming here are a little perplexed as to what to think/say/do when trying to figure out what is really true and ......importantly.....how to go about finding out what is true?
I can only think of giving a comparison. Would you turn to Mormons if you wanted to understand how chemotherapy worked in a cancer? Would you turn to a Catholic Protestant if you wanted someone to explain to you the early migration of humans on earth? Would you turn to a green grocer if you wanted to learn about the history of religions? Would you turn to a window cleaner to have the Big Bang explained? Would you ask a 77 year old ex pioneer living in bethel on the intricate details of evolution.....? Good luck even getting a definition of evolution out of them!
We have world experts and you can look at their data and opinions and decide for yourself like EVERY other human does. Letting 8 men you can't name think for you is lazy and dangerous .......and been as I did it.....I'm happy to say.....it's bloody stupid too!
Everything they told us was a lie, or in the context of a lie....and that is not taking into account the crazy stuff like aluminium is evil, vaccines are from the devil and that womens brains are smaller than men's etc etc etc .. I talking about the recent claims they make about science! Why on earth WOULD you listen to a writer from a religious brochure!? Go to the source....... EVERYTIME.

Science has looked at the genetics in like 2006 to prove once and for all Neanderthals were not human. Some religious groups claim that they were deformed humans as it bypasses the need to explain a species with intellect, communication, rituals, trade, tools, homes, jewellery..... Etc etc not mentioned in the bible.....
Your chap is suffering an education from the uneducated. The JW's have taught both and even that they don't exist, so of course he is confused. He needs to choose better teachers.

we are to believe noah preached over a 100 years with 0 effect.. the bible records that lamech, noah's father had sons and daughter's but the number is not included.
to have a plural number of brothers and sisters, there would be at least four siblings, two brothers and two sisters.. my folks had 6 kids and 90 years later there are over 100 family members.. some say based on what's written in gen.6:3, noah preached anywhere between 100-120 years.

To get a scholarship offer you not only have to endure a few years of hard book work, but judgmental head shaking in a local cong as you stay in school. Then there is the anti education articles and assembly talks....... Whatever kind of JW gets as far as a scholarship, they ain't likely pioneering!

Having done both...
if you want to spend your 30's regretting your lost youth........ignore your doubts, remain a JW and gIve into the guilt and pressure from the Window cleaners above you in the org.....become a pioneer.
If you want to be happy and enjoy freedom of thought and expression, leave the JW's.
If you want to learn something about the world and become an expert in something, maybe even offer something back to mankind, then educate yourself at college. Education is a protection, it teaches you how to safely procure information. it will make the Watchtower and Awake look like nothing more than the dishonerable self advertising it really is.
I have pioneered and gone to bethel, I have also gone to university. I literally CAN'T BELIEVE how I used to live, when a JW. There is nothing of sufficient value in the whole world that would be tempting enough to get me to swap my life back.

I agree cofty.
Putin is a very intelligent man and he is determined to resurrect the Russia of old.
He recently cried at a ceremony, drenched in memory of the glory of mother Russia. He welled up when the old national anthem began. Along with his sentimental KGB memories, these are a seriously bad mixture.
He knows he can't stay in power forever, I can't help but feel he wants his last years in office to be.....memorable.....

Well, the king of the North is being a dick again....
The mighty Putin is certainly hustling for a scrap. I have felt for some time that he wants to go out in flames and glory. Russia is so far behind the rest of the world and with China and India, the economic powerhouses of the future, Russia has little to drag itself up with.
So Putin is now flying planes over the UK with their communications and transponders switched off. The planes that carry the kind of bombs nobody want to see dropped.
The news channels are not discussing it at all, but it is impossible that western leaders are not sizing up a POTENTIAL world war 3 right now....... What do you guys think?
