Doctors and surgeons say no to blood transfusions
by Mr Negative inmy mum recently told me that even surgeons won't have blood transfusions, but the common people don't get told this.
i have also seen or heard others say that a bunch of doctors/health officials/surgeons were asked, at some point, if they would accept a blood transfusion and they all said no.
is this true?

That it matters that I exist.
Some people believe in god in order to tick this box, instantly your life matters. Some work to make their life mean something to them and others. There is no right or wrong answer, but for me I feel fulfilled that it matters if I am alive or not every day. One day I won't exist anymore, I am ok with that, because I am working hard to make sure it mattered that I once did.

are they still teaching anything about these kings in daniel as it pertains to the " time of the end?".

King of the north = whoever is currently on the news attacking the west....
Which makes no sense in a biblical context, and only makes sense to a religion formed in the west.
I have no doubt in my mind at all, that WT will claim that radical islam is the King of The North.

lambsbottom, watch the new annual meeting on JW.TV, about 2/3rds in they start talking about "new light" and explain why they have changed their views.
Listen to them fumble through senselss explanations of scriptures and dismiss contradictions to their new intepretation with nothing more substantial than a dismissive hand gesture. I was stunned watching it....
THIS is the calibre of man that made all those desicion for my beliefs!......and this is the kind of reasoning acceptable to him?!
NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE!

Great work orphan crow.
One of the biggest shocks I had when leaving Watchtower, was how well they convinced us all by quoting things in a very deceitful manner. It means a watchtower writer has read something IN context and then used it OUT of context, knowingly. That is shameful and makes them blood guilty for inumerous incidents.

If the doctor/surgeon's kid had an injury and was bleeding out..... only one substance will save them, blood. We have no synthetic blood and we die without it. Want to try to make up a reason they would deny it for them, or themselves?
Blood is not some magical substance. It is water and minerals, it has red blood cells which are nothing more than iron and proteins.Blood is screened and treated so the risk of infection is very low.
Blood is used in two ways, one to improve symptoms or in preperation for blood loss dueing a procedure.
The other is when someone has bled and who will die without it.
Some can get away with saying no to less vital indications, but not for the life threatening.
You need to be more careful in taking what you hear without question.
If blood scares you, do some reading about what it is made of and note that every human is full of it and dies without it and even gets very sick if some is lost. There are risks with medical interventions, there are even risks giving someone oxygen, giving fluids even.... but water and air are not dangerous.
Would some doctors say no to blood if it was offered to them in a non life threatening medicsl scenario......maybe, likely, yes....... bit that is wholly different to life saving blood required after a car crash, or a heavy post birth bleed or if you have a bleeding disorder etc etc etc... then only blood will do.

University Application Personal Statement dilemma - Should I mention my jw past?
by will-be-apostate ini am applying to chemical engineering course in the uk through ucas (a lot of things changed since i've posted last time).. i have a lot of skills i developed while regular pioneering, like public speaking skills, ability to reason (even if it's bs), presentational skills etc.. i feel it would boost my personal statement a lot, but i'm also afraid they would say "this guy beleives in god, and loves science, he must be creationist.
away with him".. how could i mention that i gave interviews front of thousands of people and did voluntary work in my hometown without giving a bad impression?.
i don't want to go into details and start explaining myself that "however i don't beleive in god", or something like that.

It's called a PERSONAL statement, so make sure they remember you when they are done and 1000 applications have been read.
Mine started with me describing the incident that led to me applying for medicsl school. I ended the PS with a quote. Aa for the meat of it, I filled it with all the things I knew they have to see in a PS for it to go into the yes pile. Voluntary work and a reflection on it. Evidence of commitment to the topic. Mersonal reasons for wanting to do medicine. My extra curricular acitivities that indicate a balanced life style with skills that were positive for my degree.
In medicine, voluntary work is vital, so I named the doctors i worked under, where i worked, what i learned etc etc. I went and worked at international sports events, I worked for a charity, i shadowed doctors.
Explaining my youth and path to application aged 27 wasn't as easy. I did not discuss the Watchtower organisation at all. I focused on how well I had improved in academic ability from age 16 to the exams I took age 26. In the interview, I was asked why I had such a huge chasm of difference in ability. Can you imagine me trying to explain my desire to pioneer at aged 15 with contempt for Satan's system and the futile world of academia? How would I put into context the illustration a C.O. once gave when discussing education and careers, he compared any effort in this regard as "polishing the brass on a sinking ship." That perspective and illustration dominated so many desicions and feelings towards my schooling and career. The image I formed in my head when I heard that sentence, remains. I was wholly convinced armageddon was 'around the corner'.
So no...... I didn't go there, I said I didn't spply myself when younger.
