by Paisley inthis seems the epitome of "lacking natural affection".
can you imagine being a parent and not being interested in how your own children are doing?
and what about carrying it even further, having nothing to do with your grandchildren, just because the parents are disfellowshipped?

To Winnie: I agree, it's total insanity. How could a loving God wish any human being to suffer like this? Parents shun their children, who often go and commit suicide. The WT has stated that "anything the DF'd person does or happens to them is THEIR fault because they turned their backs on Jehovah". But this is a lie. They only questioned the obvious lies and unchristian beliefs of a corporation. How is this being "against God"?
And what of the Bible principle about "the son not paying for the sins of the father" and so forth. Why are the grandchildren being shunned because the parents are DF'd?? What did they do wrong??
To tell you the truth, if I had parents who wouldn't see my children because I DA'd myself, I'd consider my parents to be INSANE and wouldn't let them within a mile of my kids. Who knows what they'd do or say? Doesn't the world have enough problems without what could be perfectly happy families playing these stupid demonic games?
To the WT lurkers: You are ALL stark raving mad. I'll go on TV and give my name and tell the world if you'd be honest enough to join me and admit to what you do. You lie in court, you slander good people, you brutalize people who don't agree with you. You published an article decades ago bemoaning the fact that you couldn't kill apostate relatives. Guess what?? I'm sorry that YOU can't all be killed. You do more damage than any group I've ever heard of in the entire country. Your insanity knows no limits. You keep gloating that God will reward you for being martyrs. He might just kill you for being genetic mistakes. Oh, you don't believe in evolution. Maybe he'll "uncreate" you then. As in "permanently remove you from the universe". Then you can't hurt people anymore. That's what I call Paradise.

Dan: That is a good point. It's obvious to the world, and I suspect to many JW's, that they are not normal, even leaving their religious affiliation out of the picture. In other words, if the WT never existed, many JW's would be in therapy or need to be. This religion has a certain flavor to it that appeals to those who suffer certain distinct mental disorders. A few of these are depression, obsessive-compulsive behavior, problems with cognitive dissonance, and persecution issues. They play right into the hands of the WT, which by the way, does not have a clue about how to recognize or treat this disorders.
In fact, the WT really doesn't WANT to treat them. If all of these JW's were "fixed" or cured, they no doubt would leave the WT for good. Since that is unacceptable for several reasons (in the WT's book), the rank and file need to be kept ignorant about the entire situation. Thus we have "no college" and "psychologists are from Satan" and similar nonsense.
If anyone doubts the WT's qualifications concerning health issues, please do a Google on the old medical beliefs the WT once taught. Anti-cancer machines, germs, aluminum pots, having your tonsils taken out (cutting your own throat was preferred, they said), vaccinations, and the ever-present blood issue are just some of the gems this cult is responsible for teaching.

I wasn't DF'd and I didn't DA myself, just faded. I wrote some letters to my wife, who left me because I read COC. I tried to reason with her, but she is a company person. Neither she nor my 21 year old daughter will talk to me. Letters, phone calls, all ignored. They use caller ID often, I guess.
Most DF'd people I know are having trouble with family ignoring them. I've read of suicides because of this. I don't think God would be happy. That's how I know the WT will fry for this in the future.
If children are DF'd and parents don't speak to them (and the kids are underage), I think the parents are unfit and the social services should get involved. That is mental cruelty. How any parent could do that and call themself "Christian" is beyond me.
This is one very sick cult and the government needs to step in, outlaw them, take their assets, arrest the leaders, and ban them forever.

As far as illness and attracting JW's, it sometimes works both ways. Becoming or being a JW will cause the stress that leads to depression and other illnesses. But often those who are already suffering from problems are attracted to the JW's because they offer instant happiness and everyone is "all smiles" with new people. It becomes a vicious cycle. It can be difficult to determine which came first.

I was wondering if someone could help me out concerning JC meetings. Previously, on other forums, wasn't the point brought up that the judges in "old testament" times used to meet and "hold court" at the public gate so that anyone who wanted to observe could do so??
What verse does the WT use to change this procedure? Just the fact that Jesus did away with the Mosaic Law? If so, what gives the WT the right to quote ANY principle from the Law when they can't find a verse in the New Testament that forbids something that they want forbidden? If the Law is over and done with, it's finished, right? And if not, why don't they follow the Law?
I'm now listening to the secret appeal recording. The elders just NEVER stop with the BS, do they? Has anyone here gone through a JC meeting and/or an appeal meeting that was so frustrating that you wanted to pull your hair out? Or rather, you wanted to pull THEIR hair out?
How can people who are capable of building a hall in two days (and all the cooperation and that entails) be so damn stupid as to both act this way in the first place and secondly, to attempt to convince the public (and the rank and file) that they never do wrong. It is actually worse than Hitler denying that the concentration camps existed, even after the entire world saw it on TV.
The elders in this appeal recording use the same tired crap about asking what the "motive" is of the brother who is appealing his DF'ing. They deny that abuse occurs, they deny that the UN was wrong to do, along with all the rest. I'm actually ashamed that I was ever a JW. Short of DA'ing myself, can I get my baptism annulled??
I hope that these jerkoffs never serve on any jury duty at a trial any more important than a traffic ticket. Their sense of justice is so perverted no person on earth would ever get a fair consideration.
Oh, they just said "they're not scared to death" about his threats to have them arrested on a hate crime. Well, Bethel, we're not scared of YOU either. Remember the odds. One thousand to one. I suggest you don't try it. It won't help your "Millions now living will never die" campaign to come true if all of you get eternal life by means of a resurrection. Capice??

Remember how great the get-togethers were in the 1980's??
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini remembers skating parties at least once a month, volleyball at the park, get-togethers where everyone would play bible charades and sing kingdoms songs, going to the river to swim with the whole congregation after the sunday meeting, spending the afternoon at the lake eating watermelon and water skiing.
it was a great upbringing!
also, i dont want to leave out the strong feelings of eliteness that i had even as a child, of having the truth.

I just finished the JC recording. Those elders are idiots. He had them dead to rights on the UN, child abuse, everything. They pulled the usual BS "causing divisions". So now it's wrong to tell a lying hypocrite that he is one. Amazing.
These people are totally insane. They actually believe they are fair, just, loving, and correct.

I just watched the video on Six Screens about the 3 babies dying at a convention from the heat. I am so angry I don't know what to say. Since my wife was an RN, I was usually put in charge of a First Aid table. I know we had many older people faint and brought to us on stretchers in Philly and NYC. The ice was rationed out only to the "emergency cases". But I never knew of anyone dying, much less a baby. Who could be so stupid as to leave an infant in the 110 degree sun for hours??
I often had important messages that I gave to the microphone people. They never delivered them. I guess some two-bit elder bragging about how his son got baptized at the age of 4 years old (usually a five minute experience) was more important than a 60 second warning to save the lives of those precious babies.
Once in NYC, Fred Franz was giving the closing prayer. It was hot as hell and he was mumbling for at least ten minutes. I finally sat down because I couldn't keep my balance. People were starting to look around at each other and a few left for their cars. Most, though, thought he was "Jesus on earth" and wouldn't have missed a word. I still don't know what the hell he was saying, and I don't think he did either. But hey, he was the Prez!! So they are saying that they couldn't cut one minute from his raving so that they could give the warning about the heat??
Do you WT idiots not realize what hypocrites you are?? Many of us here didn't know any better when we were in because the Internet wasn't here and the old books weren't available. Now we all have the information. And yet you defend it all and remain?? Are you proud to finish high school and brag how much smarter you are than college graduates? Are you proud of the fact that your doctrines change faster than the weather here in Florida? How does it feel to be the most ignorant religion in the USA?
And most of all, whatever will you say to God on Judgment Day about your lies, deaths from faulty medical advice, guilt from suicides, and all the rest?
