Regional Convention

so how many are not going to the regional convention this year?

it will be my first year not attending as part of my fade.. i remember going for all of my childhood into adult hood, participating in stage parts even.. however, last assembly i was already mentally checked out.

i remember looking around and seeing all of people bobbing & nodding at the program talks that had been previously repeated time and time again.. almost seemed like hypnosis.. i also had a hard time with the fact that we're all supposed to be "friends" and everyone had always seemed to be so judgmental.. especially at conventions & assemblies.. things like who had the best outfit for the days, who looked the prettiest, who can snag the single ms brother.. who took the most spiritual food out of the program, how many times can you tally mark jehovah's name.

This will be my first time not going too. Last year we were mentally out for just a few weeks, but went because it was my in-laws convention too and my husband wasn't ready to spill the beans, which was fine. We left early all three days and walked around with our kids most of the program.

i feel relieved to spend that time doing anything else but sitting in a stadium for 8 hours with only an hour break listening to the same talks i've been hearing since i was a child.

not to mention trying to keep my young boys quiet so i wouldnt get the evil looks in my section😂😂.

lot of walking was going on for us to try and tire them out.

Then we had to park in a JW approved lot, most being a looooong distance from the stadium because they're controlling morons.

That controlling morons part reminded me of something I totally forgot! So it was Sunday of the convention last year and my in laws happened to be assigned to the same one as us. They got there and called and said they saved us seats, great. We ALWAYS sit together on the top of the elderly section with her when we have he same convention, never a problem. As we are walking up we get a text from her saying that the brothers made her give the seats up. And I'm like huh? What do you mean? She said, well he said I had to do it, so I had to follow the arrangement. WTH?? Who are they, the seat police??wow....she didn't even fight them on it! Like, why didn't she tell them that her son and daughter-in-law and their two TODDLERS were on their way up and we were sitting there?? The program hadn't even started and we were headed to the seats!! 😡😡Anyway, we proceeded to walk around for an entire hour looking for seats. You know how had it is to get seats on Sundays. And during that time, guess what we saw?? Yup, we saw so many people saving seats. The program has been going n for over 45 minutes and we all know that after the program starts you're supposed to give up those seats. We asked the brother to ask them to move their things so we could sit down. The idiots didn't have an answer for that though, just said they couldn't do that. So heated 😡😡 I can't believe we did not just go home right then and there. We did end up leaving soon after lunch.

When that didn't work we ended up either sitting outside eating snacks or leaving early. Anyway, anyone else's first year? If not, how was your first year not attending?

let me start by saying that this forum has been helpful to me in many ways.

i haven't gotten involved in much commenting and i am not very assertive by nature so i've steered away from participating in debates.

but i have read threads often and had a sense of community.

Great post. If we all agree on everything, there is no way to see a different viewpoint. Disagreements are ok. But to your point, getting nasty and rude really is pointless. When I have those kind of comments on my threads, I just scroll right past it. Not worth my time to justify my thoughts and feelings. Now if it's just a 'I don't agree with that' type comment, let's discuss. We can always agree to disagree.

Thankful for my babies

not so subtle requests that married couples not have babies in order to further serve the org.

Thanks for sharing everyone, I love all of your stories. I'm sorry Alive! that you didn't get to experience motherhood because of that evil org. But thank you for sharing your pain with us, I'm sure that is not easy.

I hope everyone is having a good day/night. So I was just reflecting on how happy I am to have my babies, despite the orgs. not so subtle requests that married couples not have babies in order to further serve the org. I'm happy for more than one reason though.

Reason 1 - my mother was terminally ill at the time I got married. She told me over and over again that I shouldn't bring any kids into this wicked world, it would be gone soon anyway. Wait until the new system she said. At the time, it wasn't a big deal. Being newly married, that was the last thing on my mind, kids. We wanted to enjoy each other for a few years or so anyway, no point in upsetting her. Thankful that when the time was right for us, we had our babies.

Reason 2 - I had some complications with both of my babies, which had to be delivered via c-section, one prematurely. They are both healthy now. After the last one, I got my tubes tied for one reason only - blood issue. See, I was still fully in the org at the time I birthed my last child. So because of what I went through with my pregnancies, I didn't want to risk anymore complications happening which would call for a blood transfusion should I become pregnant again. So I got a tubal ligation.

So Im thankful that I didn't take my mother's advice and not have children, thankful that both me and my babies are ok without needing any extra medical attention. I'm bummed about not being able to have any more children because of the decisions I made due to the blood issue, but I have two beautiful babies that I am thankful for.

Ugh...they are getting more and more ridiculous with these kids videos. Let ppl live their lives! I knew a few gay/lesbian kids in my home cong when coming up. They really struggled to conform to the jw way and eventually left the jws and good for them. No one should have to change their life for gb/j-god. You don't have to agree with ppls choices, but it would be nice to respect them. I have a lot of gay/lesbian relatives as well and I'm sure they would find this offensive on so many levels. They are so out of touch with reality it's sad. And I didn't even touch on the manipulation of Sophia going on in this video 😡

Why are witnesses all so highly stressed?

witnesses are so anxious, stressed, highly strung..... so much for ones who are supposed to be "the happiest people"..... thoughts?.

It's a lot to keep up with. They demand your time, money 24/7 365. You can't think for yourself or even be yourself fully. That can mentally screw with you. And I think a lot know it's nonsense, but don't know how to leave without losing everything which adds to the stress. Glad I'm done with it. My whole world could fall apart and I lose everything and I still would never go back to that abuse, no thanks.
