I'm taking a poll (sorry if it's been done before)
by lv4fer inif you were not born into the organization.
my prediction is that the majority were catholic or catholic lites (ie.
episcopal, lutheran, methodist).

It is interesting. I think I should have rephrased my initial question also including those who are raised to believe in God but really don't have any bible knowledge. I think it is interesting though. I was in for 15 years and I don't think I ever came across any who were Church or Christ or Baptist or if I did they were ones who weren't knowledgeable about the bible. It just goes to show you knowledge is power. My Dad was a Catholic I converted him after I came in, now I can't get him out!!!!!!

If you were not born into the Organization. What were you before you became one. My prediction is that the majority were Catholic or Catholic lites (ie. Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist). I was raised an Episcopalian. I predict that there will be few who became witnesses who had good bible knowledge beforehand. We shall see.
I think it's important to find out how to prevent people from studying and becoming one. You can't stop those who are born into it they have to figure it out for themselves. If we can educate those who belong to other churches so that they don't fall into their trap because if you have no knowledge of the bible in the first place or very little you are more suseptible to them. People raised in the above churches are less likely to have much bible knowledge. That is why they are easy prey. If we can stop tnew people from going in I think there are so many coming out maybe we can put a dent in the growth. I'd love to see some negative numbers.

Welcome to the board. What a balancing act. I'm tired just thinking about it. I couldn't do it but more power to ya. I'm kind of an black and white kind of person. I have to call a spade a spade. I couldn't go to meetings or especialy go out in service and try to teach someone that BS. You seem to be straightforward, so tell your husband how you feel about him getting priviledges and how it would impact your life/relationship. Do you think it is the Truth?

The number of anointed
by Nordic in.
the number of anointed is virtually unchanged,.
over the past 14 years.

Well maybe because the annointed realize that they aren't annointed after all and fall away from the "TRUTH" and new people have to fill their spots so there will be 144,000 and the new ones are younger and the number is staying the same.

What exactly IS a "Publisher"??
by LovesDubs inthis was posted in nov by namewithheld: "link, yes, if a baptised jw does not turn in time on a slip of paper, they are not counted as a 'publisher' for that month.
so indeed, it is true that there are more baptised jws than the number of publishers reported.
on the other hand, you can be counted a publisher and not be baptised jw.

You can have the PRIVILEDGE of being a publisher removed even if you are not baptised and you do something wrong. They will announced that so and so is no longer an unbaptised publisher. I've seen this quite frequently with kids who in their teenage years become a bit rebellious.

What are your current beliefs on God and the bible
by Leander inwhen i first left the wts initially my intentions were to continue studying the bible on my own.
but now i really don't see the bible as being a true source of guidance.
as a witness i used to constantly read in the articles that god loves mankind, but how much love could there be if there are so many different religions all claiming to be the right one?

I am a Christian. I believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God. Jesus Christ is my savior. I follow him and not man or any particular organization. I agree with the point that the bible is a very misunderstood book. I think most people read too much into things. I don't think anyone has it all right. The only thing you must to do be saved is to accept Jesus Christ as your savior. If you put your faith in him you will be saved. Read Romans chapter 14. It says everyone may do things a little different and that is OK. That is what it means to me free in Christ. Don't get so caught up in various doctrines. You have to do what is right for you. The bible gives us certain guidelines to live by, beyond that live your life how you feel Christ would want you to. I don't think you can go wrong if you do that.

607 vs 587 BCE was what got me daring enough to question other little things that bothered me in the past but I was so convinced it was the only way to please Jehovah God by staying in that organization. When the new light was shed on the generation was published I started having some doubts back than but I just put them in the back of my mind, other little things along the way. When I did research on the 607 BCE and it proved false I then got the courage to read C of C and that was it I knew I had to get out.
