if i survive it thru the coming inquisition of Jan,Feb & March....what am i gonna do for the memorial? if i dont go big questions are going to be asked! i dont agree with the rejecting passing of the bread and the wine... so what do you think i should do? go for appearances sake? or go out for a beer?

and am i going to have to bake some unleavened bread?

I don't know your entire situation, but for the first couple of years after I 'faded' my parents would call to 'remind' me when the memorial was, and 'encourage' me to go. I never did. But my fade was accompanied by a move, so that made it easier.

If you can possibly not go, I wouldn't. That will make it pretty clear to those who know you that you are not interested anymore. The problem will be what is their reaction? Will it force a shun? But going feeds false hopes in them.

Go to the memorial after going for beer...that way bad wine and cheap ass unleaven crackers won't taste so bad..

    Sincerely,

If you feel you need to keep up appearances go. If you don't go you can always say you went at a different KH, what are they going to do check your references? I went last year but this coming year I'm not going.

I can't imagine actually attending. There isn't anything there of benefit. You'll get looked down on, condescended to, and you'll be bored stiff. The thought of actually allowing those close-minded, undereducated schlubs another opportunity to act all high and mighty turns my stomach in a knot. You're out! Its a blessing, accept it.

Now Rich, you're not thinking about going back are you?

I used to go after I did my fade, but then I decided I was being a total hypocrite, so I don't go anymore. It's hard, my family usually tries to "encourage" me, and they try to entice me with going out to dinner as a family afterwards, but I just don't want to do it, even for them. The only good thing was afterwards I could do a little catching up with people I had not seen in a long time, but it was kind of phony because those same people would not talk to me at any other time. Do what you have to, but remember, sometimes even one meeting appearance can set you back from all the work you have done to get out. Good luck!

I stopped going to the meetings, then I faded slowly from the annual Watch the Bread and Wine Go By Festival because one year I felt so out of place. I didn't believe that stuff anymore and I was just keeping up appearances. My last draw, the 1993 District Convention. I left at lunch and never walked into a meeting of any sort again.

A few days before...make it known that you are feeling a little unwell. The day before....get a splitting headache and feel nauseous.

Day of Memorial..."I have the flu."

That should work. I think it's called "reverse theocratic warfare."
