i'm feeling very antsy, i've been waiting for a much bigger "other shoe to drop" since 9/11.. i don't know if it's all the years of the apocalyptic jw thinking but i still live with a haunting fear that the whole works is headed for a spectacular crash.
i wonder how helpless chinese villagers felt when they saw ghenghis khan's hordes on the horizon heading toward them.

u.s. sen. bill nelson said monday the bush administration last year told him and other senators that iraq not only had weapons of mass destruction, but they had the means to deliver them to east coast cities.
nelson, d-tallahassee, said about 75 senators got that news during a classified briefing before last october's congressional vote authorizing the use of force to remove saddam hussein from power.
Yeru, Condi said no one knew it was an actual forgery (strange when senator Graham mentioned the investigation originated with the office of the Vice President) and that the report was "mistaken". Again, no one cares who forged the documents...
The adminstration hyped up so much failed evidence to sell war to the American people... and we all bought it.

Actually SS that story was never shown to be "fake". The guy that investigated the claim...Ambassador Wilson, had exactly ZERO training in intelligence. He sat in a hotel room in Nigeria and conduct interviews and then declared the report false.
Condi Rice already admitted the Niger uranium story was a fake on Meet the Press months ago. Strangely, no one cares who faked it. That information was reported by Wilson a year before, yet it was still used in the President's State of the Union speech. Strangely, no one cares how that happened either. When Wilson made this known to the public again, his wife's identity as a secret agent was leaked -- a very serious crime, but again no one really about that either. Lucid
some months ago i heard that hillary will be drafted as president at the democratic convention.
well, this is no longer a rumor.
on the hannity & colmes show last night, foxnews, this 'rumor' was confirmed to be true.. the reason for the public silence (not told on the show) but by the rumor mill, is to keep hillary on a low profile, not to create a public stir.
Yeru, are you saying Saddam was executing mass amounts of civilians in the months leading up to our invasion? That itself would have the best reason to invade and unseat him, but I am not aware it was ever made.
The authorization by Congress was curiously complacent. The war may have been legal in the US, but it was not legal as far as the international community is concerned. They wanted to avoid war through the inspection process. When the administration figured out the UN wasn't going to opt for the attack-now option, it bypassed a vote and went ahead anyway.

I mean, how, from a humanitarian perspective, was the war illegitimate?
Was there a humanitarian crisis in Iraq at that time -- one that could be fixed by say, invading their country and getting thousands of Iraqis killed in the process?
are we beginning to see that the argument of wether or not we should have gone to war is starting to get a little circular.. there are points to be made on both sides.
in my mind it comes down to wether or not you think that the us should be the policeman for the rest of the world.. i personally still don't think we needed to go to war, even though we did capture saddam, i know, i know, hard to believe.. just think, if i had my way, saddam would still be in power!!!!
is a wmd incarnate.
why aren't we using that as an excuse to invade Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast or Liberia? Is it because they are black or because they are poor?
Oh come on. It doesn't have anything to do with race. Besides, they don't have anything useful to us! Geez!!!
this report has been in the british press, not picked up here in the states though...if true it's very interesting.. day of infamy 2001. memo: 9-11 chief.
trained by saddam.
document says atta in baghdad under abu nidal's tutelage just before attacks.
Well, I've already heard a few people on the left say that even if WMD are found...even if it's actual Nukes...we still had no reason to go to war.
Problem is we didn't go to war based on THAT information. If something terrible finally does turn up, this becomes a forgiveable offense. But at this point we're crossing our fingers and HOPING - not a great demonstration of "preemptive" justice.

with saddam captured and the economy fast improving, do you think the democrats are doomed in the 2004 presidential race?
i certainly think so and hope so.
george w, bush for president again.
similar to the socialist's attitude of wanting the state to control and dish out jobs/benefits/housing/education/healthcare etc etc etc
Education? Are you serious? Some sort of balance is needed there.
BTW the democrats are in trouble if the economy rebounds. "It's the economy stupid" --James Carville
Yeah, shame that "electibility" is tied to the economic cycle instead of policies.

the news just came on with a "special report" and my husband looked at me and said, "uh oh what now??
" the newscaster came on.. "president bush in a operation that outdone the cia in secrecy..blah blah blah".
bottom line... the president flew into iraq to spend thanksgiving with the troops.
A funny...
if we have evolved my assumption is we still are evolving correct?
or am i wrong in this assumption as well?
with all that was wrought on jws this is one teaching i can not get past that of evolution v. creation.
drwtsn32: "We rely now on technology and culture for survival now and those are rapidly evolving. This could lead to more feeble humans: strength etc becomes irrelevant when we have machines to do it for us. We have taken a brand new road in the history of life..."
Interesting. As biology breaks down, we replace it with technology. Look at all the prostheses we are now adding to ourselves. How much longer until they starts working better than our biology - physically and even mentally?
Will humanity will morph into some kind of "cybernetic organism"? I think we've already started down that path...
