I just did a consent decree for my divorce from my JW wife in a few months and a clause I put in was that any monies we split were for the kids post k12 education and, should they not go to college, the monies revert to me. Also, chld support will stop at 18 if they don't go to college AND complete their degree, if they do that it will continue to 22. Also, she can't home school them without my consent. I tied her finances to the kids education. Let's see how that works out for her.

Jehovah's Witnesses & Higher Education
by minimus ini believe that jws demonize higher education so much, that it makes them look like weirdos!.
you and your family are penalized if someone goes to college!.
when i tell any "worldly" (aka "normal" person) that witnesess view higher education with disdain and ridicule, i always get the same response:.

Sauce for the goose is also good for the gander. If they want to point to 150 year old writings, they should face up to their own past about black men parying and becoming white and having segregated meetings.

why would jehovah need to "rest" in the first place? july 15, 2011 WT
by oompa inthe july 15 wt mentioned how god is still resting...confident that his plan is being worked out.
for some reason i had never thought about why the hell god would even need or want a "rest day"....i mean for crying out loud according wt god only created one thing....da baby jesus.
how boring to let him create everything else.

I cant stay home every sunday and not worship God
Learn to golf, go hiking, nurse a hangeover, put the finishing touches on a weekend bender, get some work done around the house, sleep in for a change....
I guess im so use to that KH regimen that now I have so much free time on my hands....
Learn the fine art of jilling if you want something to do with your hands. You'll thank me later.
I just miss the talks, insight on the scriptures and personal study I use to do. Now I dont have anything..... I noticed my weekends consist of researching other faiths, being on websites like jwn forum and others....... not really anything positive and spiritual.
Take a class, go to art galleries, go to a poetry reading. there are many ways to fill the need to be part of a deep emotional community larger than yourself without going to church.

Is life a black comedy?
by Joey Jo-Jo induring the normal working day routine something occured to me that has been in the back of my mind for some time.. during bible times, scriptures dont appear to have a sense of humour, i believe its because life was (and his) serious, they were very dependent on what they made and ate, life must have been tuff, no diswashers, no cars, no gas or electricity etc.. fast forward to today, we work for the rest of our lifes but confort standards have increased, we have a huge selection of foods and entertainment, we go home to spend time with our loved ones, watch tv not realising in our own little way we have been condition to think during these years, that we dont think about tommorrow-death, we can suffer from some disease, the animals we eat suffered for our pleasure of eating meat, still in our time people die from starvation, natural disasters, crimes and war.. reality bites, dont know who said that but its very true.. and while my dad prays before dinner for god to help all brothers, "brothers" suffer, die, and others still die of starvation.
if i was ever going to reconcile the bible with reality, the same question that turned bart ehrman into an agnostic "why does god permit suffering" the most logical conclusion (and while faulty)i can come up with is that god is impartial, as it says it rains on both the good and the bad.
since the bible is faulty i could go one step further and say by what i see around, that while the creation of life (plants, animals etc) are intelligent, what or who ever created us either forgot about us or does not us to know, or does not want us to understand at this time.. when watching the royal wedding, watching the priests and royalty, i wonder how much blood and sacrifice went into all that gold and monarchy wealth.

They had a sense of humor back then, it was much more dark, but they had it.
Try reading some Kurt Vonnegut novels sometime if you want a dark sense of humour.

2 Thessalonians issue
by Mat inreading a great book, jeus interupted, that i reccomend, but i came accross an interesting issue about second thessalonians.
ehrman argues that he does not think 2 thessalonians was written by the same person who wrote 1 thessalonians, and gives his reasons:.
if paul meant what he said in 1 thessalonians, that jesus return would be sudden and unexpected, it is hard to believe that he could have written what is said in 2 thessaloniansthat the end is not coming right away and that there will be clear-cut signs to indicate that the end is near, signs that had not yet appeared.
