Goodbye, everyone.
by Chemical Emotions insome of you were really nice.
some of you were really mean to me, and at this point in my life i can't handle such meanness.
i thought this would be my one place to truly express my feelings without too much mocking or insults from people who i thought were nicer, but i was wrong.

If we lose a few hundred oh well
by RayPublisher inwasn't there a quote in one of ray's books where a gb member said something to that effect?
they were going to change a policy ("new light" lol) and i think it was grant suiter who said, "if we lose a few hundred oh well we'll gain lots more from this!".
i have both books (hardcopy and pdf) and tried to find it but couldn't.

@Longhairgal - So true- Good for you!
@wha happened - Yes that is their loving care upon us- we are drones after all. Not all GB feel that way, but he certainly did, such a pity...
@WTWizard - It can be a drag but I don't know if I feel it's that bad lol. But I certainly respect your feelings on that front.
So hmmm no one can find that quote yet about "losing a few hundred"? I just wanted to confirm that it was really in there- I'm fairly sure it is but can't find it...

What do you think of AOG church?
by shallbefree inhello friends, i am a fading jw and i am thinking of attending sunday service at a local aog church here, just for fellowship.
i have lots of friends but none of them are spiritual minded.
not that i am complaining but it would be nice to meet some spiritual minded people.

Shallbefree -I applaud you for exploring other churches and for asking people for their thoughts and advice. Take it...and then do what YOU think is right and good for you.
Recently, I attended a Church of Christ service. This was only the second time I had EVER been to anything other than a Kingdom Hall. I went to their Sunday Bible study, and then the main Sunday service. I can say that the study was deeper than anything in a WT study (not saying much lol) and members freely commented, added to the discussion, etc. Then the service started and it was calm, reasoned, upbuilding and interesting. They passed the bread and wine and everyone partook- which was refreshing.
What made me check them out is the fact that they do not have any hierarchy or central body that decide their creeds. Each congregation is autonomous and they only adhere to the Bible. I don't know if I'll ever join any church after what I have been through with the WT, but it was a nice experience.
Good luck, I wish you well on your Christian journey.

To me it really illustrates how little they care about individual members, "the little sheep" of the flock, and more about number$. Like when a suggestion was made back in the 1970's to shorten the meetings and Henschel says, "well what are the publishers going to do with the extra time? Just watch TV."

Here's another plug to listen to the "prophet" of God today, aka the GB:
"In the past, prophets provided needed reminders to God’s people and warned them of God’s coming judgments (Am 3:7)
Today, Jehovah uses his anointed servants to remind even the righteous that it is later than most think (Eze 3:21)
...Make it your aim to show similar zeal and to support them"

@OnTheWayOut - Thank you for this:
"Rick, don't worry. I have the solution to all your money problems. I forwarded an email I received from a lawyer in Nigeria. He says he needs an American with a bank account to provide access numbers and put up just $1000 to free up millions of dollars..."
I laughed so hard I had to spit out the cracker I was eating.
God bless you kind sir...and God bless the "Sick Screens"!

Commentary Press contact person?
by Caminante indoes anyone of you know who is now in charge of commentary press?
i'd like to publish an official romanian edition of crisis of conscience (some unofficially translated chapters had been available on the net for several years, but i worked on translating an official edition, which is now being proofread in its composed form in order to get the ready-for-print status) and have to get somebody from commentary press to work out the legal agreement..

Associate Bible Students, Dawn Bible Students and Christadelphians Beliefs...
by Tuesday infrom what i've researched these religions seem to believe almost everything the jws do, with very minor differences.
i'm curious if anyone here is part of one of these religions or knows a place that i can go to find out all their beliefs to see every difference?.

Most of the Bible Students group believe in 1914, 144k, Jehovah is God's name, no immortality of the soul, no hellfire. Russell was used by God. Other religions and Christian groups are false.
They do believe in the Cross, Israel being God's chosen people and that they will be restored.

Choices you have to make after you learn the "truth"

@ Broken Promises - If by the term "big sky daddy" you are trying to make fun of and discredit those of us that believe in God or a creator, then your comment is barely better than the WT. They seek to discredit and marginalize those that don't believe as they do. Isn't that what you are doing as well? I have no problem with your belief that "God" is an invention of man, but do you respect those of us that feel there must be a Creator? DO you repsect our beliefs?
The rest of your advice though is actually positive, thank you. Showing respect for your fellow posters and ex-JWS that do believe in a Creator would illustrate that despite thinking you are "just an animal", you still follow the Golden Rule.
